Temp sending sensor.

So I am trying to find the part number for the temp sending unit by the oil pressure sensor. I have been to 3 parts stores and they all point to AC delco D1858D. That part does not fit. I tried to do some searching but could not find a definitive part number. I cant find any markings on the original one as it is all scratched and the pin is broken off( how I got the car). If anyone has the correct please let me know.

I don't want to hijack OPs thread, but this is the type of sensor my current engine has (the weird one). When did Mazda roll out these sensors? Are they only for S4 engines made in the post S5 era?

I didn't realize that it was a thing until my S4 sensor didn't fit and I had to buy the weird one.

the Mazda number is JE15-18-51X. the AC Delco D1858D looks like the Mazda one.

the S4 uses 8569-18-510A, which is a different thread, and bullet connector

and then there is G607-18-510 which is the S5 thread, but S4 connector.

i think the calibration is different too, but its been a while

Hmm Ya the Mazda one looks like what I have. The Ac Delco one does not fit in the hole at all. But the S4 ones is not the right connector. Ill pull it out and get them side by side.

Wow so it looks like S4 one. But I have a S5 motor as that has the electric OMP right? Plus I cant seem to find the Bullet connecter for the wire anywhere near where it should be. ACDelco is on the left old is on the right.

S5 is a 1/8" bspt thread(tappered)...the broken one on the right looks like a straight thread metric.

Have you just tried calling the dealer and provide them your vin?

this part probably isn’t proprietary to only s5 fc’s..

Plus, the s5 coolant temperature gauge is pretty useless. It only tells you if your engine is cold, probably warm, or you probably should’ve shut it down a while ago.

Install a real coolant temperature gauge by tapping the rear of the water pump housing 1/8”-NPT when you get the chance.

PM sent. I Spent some time looking around to see if I could find the connector for it that seems to have broken off but the only one I see not plugged in would be a connecter that fits the New temp sensor that does not fit the engine.

Foxed.ca

here are all the manuals, wiring diagrams and everything you’ll ever need.

Reference the wiring diagram to find the correct wire.

Sorry, I prefer to teach someone how to fish rather than giving you one. You’ll thank me later.

OK, So I found a sensor that actually fit. But The connector I thought was it is not the same as the sensor. Any thoughts on what those connectors are? Man I am getting lost with this.

The New sensor that fits.
