Tell me what ya think...

Hey guys, new guy here on the forums and I was wondering what some other RX7 inthusiasts would think about this FC I came across today. I'm in the market for a new car and I'm very interested in a RX7. I know most of the common issues with rotary powered cars, but any info or comments are welcome. Thanks.

Check it out here: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/car/255661171.html

not too bad, that coolant problem could be a bad coolant seal in the motor though, which basically means the motor is toast if that is the problem, also could have overheated a bunch which is really the worst stress for the motor there is. also 173k the motor is probably at the end of it's life. if you have the money to put a new motor in soon, and like the color red it's not too bad,

thanks for your input. I was thinking of maybe going to check it out since it's not to far from me. I would use the FC buyers guide from this forum to help me find any other possible problems. And with some luck I might be the new owner. Thanks again.

Looks pretty good for me, I would say its a deal at 2k, if the motor isnt about gone. Realize that you may be needing a rebuild eventually anyway.

with that many miles, try to talk him down. Also ask him why he has GXL wheels on there, and if the brake upgrade he did are the 4 piston calipers from the GXL as well.

Yeah it looks great in the pictures. But then again most things look better in a picture... So I'm just waiting for the owner to respond to my email.

rebuild for sure.

but for 2k the interior is very very clean.

engine, i think, is a lot easier to get replaced than interior. unless you are mexico bound. then its way cheap. and if you dont know how to swap then its not easier.

i just think body work/interior work is more expensive/more of a hassle.

I wouldn't even have known those were GXL wheels if you didn't say so, thanks Omixeo

i got mine in that good of condition(except the starter was bad, but i knew that going into the deal) and the motor only had 50k on it for only $1300. be sure to check the whole car for rust. i used it as a bragaining chip because i noticed rust on the inside of the rear passenger quarter panel, it has now eaten through(my fault for letting it go).

Interior is easy to do, as long as you are careful and dont break anything.
