Weird Eletrical (lights, cd player) problems...

Ok, last time I posted was 'cause the battery was dead and the fuse was blown on my '90 S5.

Just for the sake of not confusing anything that this could have damaged, I'll admit the fuse was 'cause I was in a hurry and switched the polarity... -_-;;; oops.

So yeah I got an 80A fuse and replaced it, but when I took out the old one I noticed it's a 100A. =/

So I replaced it anyway, lower isn't bad... just means it might blow out meaninglessly haha.

Now I have a problem, my dome lights (front and back) don't work. The clock loses power if I turn on the dome light (doesn't turn on still) and the CD player sounds like it's getting power, losing it, getting it, losing it, over and over. The clock flashes on and off too, like it's also losing power... along with all the idiot lights that are on. (Pretty much just e-brake light)

So... that's pretty much all the symptoms I think...

Any ideas here?

blown room fuse.

you will need to go though every fuse and check each and every one if you hooked up the battery backwards.

and 89-91 cars use a 100 amp main fuse... only 86-88 cars use the 80 amp main fuse.

I know it uses a 100A fuse but that's another trip to the store, I'll eventually get it... but could that be the source of the problem or no?

If I'm not retarded, all an 80A fuse should do is blow out earlier than the 100A... either way it'll do its job.

Oh and one more thing, how the HELL do you guys get to the fuse box under the dash!?? I can NOT see that thing and I can NOT find it with my hands and it's bugging the HELL out of me!! =(

A fuse is a fuse, if it doesn't blow, then it's basically a jumper wire. Just because it's an 80A in place of a 100A doesn't mean that it will cause your lights to dim...

Turn upside down near the steering column and put your ribs on the door sill. There, that feels good, doesn't it? Now, look as far as you can towards the front left side of the passenger compartment. If you don't see rows of fuses, then you are actually one of the rare guys that still have a cover over the fuse box. Remove the cover...See any fuses?
