Unhappy TB Mod need help now!

Okay I did the throttle body mod on a spare one a while back, well I got out today and actually swapped them over. Now the car will not idle at all, and I can't find the write up anymore on it.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Did you completely bypass the coolant hose around the tb? If so the car won't idle on its own very well until it is warmed up.

yeah i bypassed the line around the tb.

But it still won't idle at all , i can start it up and rev it to 3 grand but anything under that it starts to stall, even witht the motor at normal operating temp.

check for vacuum leaks, loose hoses or a disconnected/faulty AFM.

when we did fitness stains we had to adjust the tps, adjust the idle screw, and take a long look at the linkage. something was getting caught up in the throttle linkage and caused it to be stupid for some reason. also, make sure that all of the nipples are covered and/or routed correctly. if air is bleeding in or out it wont idle very well. . . or idle high.

I messed around with the TPS for a little bit and that seemed to solve my problem.

But now I got another problem, the check engine light is on but goes off right when i touch the gas a little, but when off the light comes on.

did you correctly adjust the TPS? or just messed with it until it idled? that may be causing the Check Engine light. Get a hold of a DMM and correctly adjust the TPS, or it could be bad. I don't have the correct specs, but I'm sure someone around here does.

a (ghetto, bad, wrong) solution to an engine that won't idle is overtightening the throttle or cruise control cable.. my car won't idle, so I used the cruise control cable to adjust it so now it idles at a decent 1200RPM..

It should be 5 +or- 1 ohms. You are measuring resistance, not volts. I think it is better to make the little test lights and plug them into the TPS check port and then adjust it until 1 light is on and the other is out. That way, you see what the ECU sees, and if the ECU is happy, then you will not get any Check Engine codes.

I ahd a similar problem once (after having a friend mess with some vaccum lines). Since you worked around that area, check the air temp sensor, even if its connected, it might be loosed....

Well, it sounds like you just need to re-adjust the TPS with a volt meter thingy... I didnt acctually fully complete the TB mod, just ran the coolant lines around (bypass) she did not want to idle, i had to readjust a couple of things, also, when you had the TB off, check to see that you didnt bind the fast idle cam in the rear of the TB, mine flipped upside down, and was idleing at 2200-3000 it was a JOKE!. Just check basic adjustments, make sure nothing is bound up or snagging

Also check your Connections/vac lines make sure their all hooked up properly
