Question A task it will be! Can this beat this?

Id like to know roughly what needs to be modded on my 87TII to make it faster than my 68 tbird... or is that possible?

my new rx7.. yay!

and the beast!

mod list for my tbird is in my sig... but it dosent list the total lack of traction my tbird has.

so what would it take to run with the thunder chicken?

well its a ford t-bird and i havent got a chance to run it... the guy who built it said he ran a 13 flat but had traction problems half way down the track.. it just spins the tires and fish tails... loads of fun winning races with the hood of my car pointing off in the bushes, still goes straight.... but im sure its not good the the et.

by "full" exhaust you mean DP im guessing... that raises boost to what? Then he needed something to stop boost/fuel cut, fuel pump(?) why get a better 1 if you are not injecting more fuel... or is he, if so that would mean he had bigger injectors? a fuel controller? fuel cut defensor? more boost means having to make waste gate bigger/ported? im new to all of this.. but it seems "just exhaust, intake and fuel pump" means a whole list of mods.

im kinda lookin for:
3"DP
catback (will gutted cat 3"pipe and universal muffler work?)
fuel controller (dunno what or how)
fuel cut defensor (right?)
maybe bigger injectors (if needed)
ported waste gate
intake (how do u get rid of the mass air thingie?)
FMIC
gauges to monitor all these new toys

Now will the stock clutch handle all this new power? how much power will all this stuff make? Will ANY of this effect the realibility of the car?

help me adjust my list... what is important, and not?

I would be happy with mid to low 13s, Remember this car will by my daily driver.

Full exhaust is usually referred to no cats and a catback(most times full 3"). With full exhaust and a cone filter and a ported wastegate, running probably 12lbs of boost you should be good. You will need at least a fcd and a fuel pump. An s-afc and/or larger secondaries would be recommended though.

so DP gutted cats and dual universal mufflers (ricey chrome round 1's) plummed with all 3" pipe would work right? I mean its going to be ALOT cheaper, i have a budy that works at a muffler shop... ok now how much of a diference will it make?

Also I read that FCD's are bad cuz they run you lean all the time... ecu sees less boost to dosent add enouf fuel..

now will gutted cats and dp and all be legal in NC..... we have to pass emission inspections... I think I remember hearing that rx7s blow pretty clean till on the boost? Gutting the cats will look legal I know, but will it test within legal limits?

The exhaust you mentioned will work.

About the FCD...it will tell the ecu you aren't seeing more than the factory 5.5psi I believe. Basically, you have to have one unless you get an aftermarket ECU or you can't go past I believe 7psi or so.(someone else can be more specific on the PSI since its been a while since I had to worry about it)

About testing for emmissions...you will need a good cat and an airpump hooked up to pass. If you get a fuel controller you can lean it out to help too.

i read a site.. wish i could find it again.... talking about how the FCD's doin what they do will create a lean burn... if the comp sees less than actual boost it cant/wont give enouf fuel... right?

I read that having a fcd alone is kinda bad in the medium to long run...

but this would do it right?.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2415998262
kinda expensive tho.. or is it hmmm
just seems expensive cuz i paid 700 for the car.. seems like for all this extra crap I need to get the fuel and boost correct i should get a microtech or some other EMS right?

Well if you don't have a fcd, what will happen? You will be boosting and all of the sudden end up with ZERO fuel. Which do you think is worse, not enough fuel or ZERO fuel all of the sudden? And that can be remedied since you will have an upgraded fuel pump and/or fuel controller and/or bigger secondaries.

i know, we both are correct..... im saying a fcd is bad unless you get a fuel controller, bigger pump and injectors too

but yes sudden fuel cut is worse... im saying both are bad unless proper steps are takes to add more fuel to make up for the lowerd boost signal to the ecu.
