t2 turbo issues/guage issues/wiring??? help

ok guys I just bought a 87 t2 today and got some q's, my tach, spedo, boost guage and temp guage are not working and it definately is not building any boost, the egr had a big hole in it I have made a block off plate and will get to test it out tomorrow, could this have been my issue with building boost?

All gauges besides the Speedometer are powered by the Meter fuse found in the interior fuse box.

Indeed, it's very common for all the gauges EXCEPT the speedo to die...the fact that yours is dead is weird.
The FC speedo is completely mechanical, so either the cable is broken, it's not connected at one end or the other or the drive unit is bad (unlikely, I should think).

Well my oil pressure and fuel guages work, are they on the same circuit as the tach temp and boost guage?

The tach runs off of the trailing coil so you might want take a look at that aspect.

UPDATE UPDATE....!! ok so I have figured out that all my guage issues are seperate problems.. wth, Satch you were correct about the trailing coil tach signal wire.....it was not there. lol, fixed.. my spedo the needle was stuck kinda strange but... fixed. my temp guage is due to a broken sending unit... will be fixed tomorrow.. BUT still no boost pressure seen nor felt. hmmm I will start a new thread to track down that issue. thanks to all for the help in making my new t2 come alive man I love this group

At the Boost Sensor there are four wires. B/W has 12 volts w/key to on. Brown/White has 5 volts w/key to on. Brown/Red has 2.3 to 2.7 volts w/key to on and vacuum hose disconnected although it should give you basically the same reading if the hose were left connected. Last wire is the ground.

The Brown/Red wire is the output wire and 2.3 to 2.7 volts is spec.
