swapping motors thread..
so basically i am searching for info on this.. but i am putting an engine and 5spd from an S4 into my S5 that is an automatic. i know most of what i need, and using the S4 keg with all the S5 intake and connectors and such. the parts i'm concerned about, are the gauges since my S5 is an automatic will much be off? i'm not worried bout the PRD12 in the middle just worried about things reading right. Yes i know to change out the output gear on the trans. Is the ECU going to matter using the stock s5 automatic one.
i know i saw a thread about this before.. i just can't seem to find it anymore.

ok so i found the thread for swapping the manual to the automatic.
my next part is just making sure i have this right. I'm taking an S4 motor and trans to my S5 car.. i know that i basically swap the keg over, and use the S5 intake manifolds and such. I also need the front plate too. Going to also be romoving some of the emissions because the great state of kansas doesn't care and replacing the oil cooler lines.
i will keep updating as i think of more. Any info would be appreciated. thanks

S4 manual into any auto is going to be hard because the passenger side of the transmission crossmember is bent... Ideally you would cut [any] manual mounts out and weld them into the destination car, but the easiest way to get this going is to get an S5 transmission and Y-bracket and bolt your automatic crossmember to those and then use two pieces of angle iron to extend the mounts forward [the automatic crossmember is flat, all the manual ones are bent on the pass. side]
You can swap the S5 transmission tail shaft onto an S4 transmission though.

Yea, you probably saw V8killa's thread. That's where I got a lot of information from for how to mechanically do mine.
His way involves using a couple different pieces of metal to try to make the height *exactly* the same as the stock mounts, but it's pretty unnecessary that way. The thickness of the angle iron is only going to lower the transmission by a couple mm.
I've attached a picture of the angle iron holding mine up, but it's pretty dark.
If you find an S5 transmission or an S5 tail shaft to swap onto yours, this is all you have to do to mount it up. It even feels ~95% as firm as stock mounts [the 5% could be due to the differences between the condition of my engine and transmission mounts]
Oh, and incase you haven't read it before, you don't have to drop the whole pedal frame assembly.. Just swap the bar and pedals. ^_^ [But install the clutch cylinders before you put the new bar in! Much easier to do it that way]
