Swapping for a Km\H cluster?
Friend wants to do this. Do we need to buy a Cannuck Cluster or can we switch the little paper in the background (from a Cannuck Cluster)?
Would a JDM Cluster read the speed incorrectly if bolted into a USDM car (since they only reach 180km\h)?

Do we need to swap the entire cluster? Would it be possible to simply swap the speedo background? Seems to be held down by two tiny screws.

No, JDM vehicles are limited to 180km/h from the factory. The gauge backing should just swap over, if you are doing 60m/h you're doing 100km/h. The internals are geared to turn the odometer to the KM distance, so that will still read fine. However, swaping the whole cluster is likely easier.
At any rate, you do not want to try exchanging just the dial as that would entail removing the indicator needle, which I don't think is easily done.

He says it's actually quite easy to disassemble it. Here's a pic - apparently it only took a few minutes to take apart and worked fine when put back together.

Still, I doubt both speedos are calibrated the same, they are similar for sure but you might end up with a 5-10km/h difference.
Edit: My speedometer goes up to 160mp/h (260km/h) where as yours only go to 140 so they are indeed different.

S4 N/A read up to 140. S4 TII's and S5 cars read up to 160.
