we call them sumps here :P but oil pan to put a plate in to make the oil not sit to one side during cornering. I have the plate just wanted to know how to get the bolts off that are under crossmember. I assume I will have to get a universal 10mm socket

If your unsure maybe get a workshop to do it.
Otherwise you just drain the oil in the engine, unbolt the sump (oil pan for those of you in the U.S ) use a new sump gasket and some kind of sealent (silicon, gasket glue, etc) put on the baffle and another gasket and silicon/glue, etc bolt it all together, some fresh engine oil and away you go.
You will have to take the drivers side engine mount off as well (remember we have right hand drive cars in asia pacific...).
Hope that helps.

I did this this summer with the engine in. What I did was unbolt the engine mounts and put a bottle jack under the very front part of the tranny and jacked it up a bit. If you've got a strut bar take it off. Then you can get in there to get those front bolts off, it's not fun, but it's doable. I didn't use any gaskets this time, just sealant and it sealed fine.
