Stupid Rpm Buzzer

Does anyone know a mod to get rid of that damn rpm buzzer. Everytime I have a girl in the car and it goes off they tell me to slow down or something, they think people are honking at me. Kinding of embarrassing
thanks

What's worse? Explaining to a girl what it is? Or having your radio on loud, missing a shift, and popping your engine? You shouldn't rev it that high under normal driving conditions anyway, unless you're messing with someone at a stop light, keep it below 8K.

Well normally the BIG *** tachometer in front of my face
does a good enough job of telling me when to shift. I've never heard of anyone popping an engine from over-revving, yet. Although, I'm sure some idiot has, it's not going to be me. However, I'd still like to know how to get rid of that stupid noise.

But seriously, I remember this topic coming up a while ago, did you do a careful search? I'm pretty sure there was an answer posted.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that there's a pot **** behind the cluster. You can't get rid of the buzzer, but you can turn it up so high that you'd have to be drunk or trying to collect insurence money to ever hear it again.

I got rid of mine on my S4 vert, I don't know if it any different on a S5. But all you gotta do is pull out your gauge cluster, unscrew the circut board off the cluster, and it will be a little pezzo buzzer that is soldered onto the circut board. I just took a small pair of dikes and clipped it off the circut board.
Mine was ******* up on me, it woulds just start buzzing (regardless of my RPM), and wouldn't shut off untill it wanted to (trust me I beat the **** out of my dash).

NO the actual gauge cluster....tach, speedo, etc....
once you pull it off it will have this indented area in the middle bottom....there a little white plastic buzzer from the very depths of hell rests..... just look at the circuit bourd and I believe there are just 2 clips ( ? ) either clip them or desolder them......just take you time

If you've got an 86-88 model you can just put the 89-91 cluster in. If you hit the buzzer then, you'll probably run into problems. Yes I saw the buzzer on mine, it is in a different spot depending which year you have but you can get to it on either model with the guage cluster out.

I wouldn't recommend cutting the buzzer. Not only is it used as the rev limiter, but also as a warning signal for some serious problems with your car(low coolant, exhaust temperature alarm, some of those, I think, sorry, I'm too lazy to look it up right now).
