Stupid question. Cone filter install.

Just after i purchased the filter a MAF adapter i realized that the sensor wire for the MAF connected to the stock air box had nowhere to go after i install the filter?

Is this a problem, if so. solution ?

You shouldn't have any wires that are disconnected and dangling. What does it look like?

He is talking about the AFM wire. It is connected to the stock box.

The wire that I would call "the AFM wire" connects to the AFM, lol. Which wire are you talking about?

I just want to make sure that he didn't remove the AFM. (I have seen this done before).

Yeah, you need to put that "unit" that went under your regular stock filterbox back in place connected to the large black tube... than connect the cone filter to the front of the AFM... make sure you install the AFM back the correct way... you prolly just bought a filter right?

Depending on what year Rx-7 you have you may need an adapter, they are 15$ or so... What year is your car?

I was wondering WHAT wire you leave dangling?
There is none. You cannot remove the AFM. You can either attach the adapter where the box was OR get an aftermarket Turbo Inlet Duct. No other choice unless you get a stand alone. And....you cannot mount the S4 AFM any which way. It HAS to be level either ribbed side down or up.

Maybe he means the airpump tube? (not sure if this applies to FCs) I left my AFM disconnected accidently, started the car up and drove it, it sounded exactly like a moped and had no power.

An FC shouldn't even start without the AFM.

I am not sure what wire he means either.

There is only one wire that I can think of and it is the plug that goes into the AFM under the stock airbox. The only safe way you could do away with the AFM is if you go full stand alone ecu. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The 'tube' going to the air pump (about 1" outside diameter) is the intake for the airpump, and its connected to the filter box so it gets 'filtered' air. Most cone filters don't have a connection for the air pump, so it will now suck unfilterd air....not terrible but not ideal. You can buy a mini cone filter for about $10, realign the 'tube' so it runs up next to the engine cone filter, attach the mini cone, and tie wrap it in place.

I'll get you a picture in a day of two.

Those mini cones are funny. It's like the cone filter had a baby...

no prob its done already, looks cute together, both yellow cone filters teehee. but it doesnt feel much different, maybe cause im driving a automatic. i will be converting it to a manual soon but i just thought a cheap mod would be fun to do sinc ei had nothing to do today. it feels a bit better but sounds really good. theres a wire connected to the air sensor i think. is it okay to remove that and install the cone in its place or is it better to leave the sensor on there?
