Strength of T2 rearend

Does anyone have an IDEA of how much max torque/hp a stock T2 rearend can hold? and is there a company out there that make like 3.55 or 3.73 gears for it? any thing would help,

It will handle a good bit of power, probably more than you will be making. Its somewhere around 450HP. And what would you want that tall of gears for? v-8 swap?

yeah i'm putting a 347 stroker in it. The motor was already out when i bought it and my car is gonna be a daily driver that i can depend on, cheap to fix and readily available mechanics. Now i'm not doin this to disrespect the rotary cause its a great engine indeed, but imo rotaries arent the best engines for the daily driven car and i live in a town about 30 miles south of dallas and i cant afford to tow it everytime something happens and i dont know how to fix it.

Thats cool. I personally am a huge fan of properly done V-8 swaps. How much power are you planning on making?? 86-88 automatic GXLs will have a 3.9 LSD diff. Wont be quite as strong as a T2 rear end, but if youre not making huge power, it should be fine. Plus you can have the 3.9 gears...

the stock 7" ring gear N/A diff is good for over 400hp with DR's and automatic... the T2 diff should be safe for even more as many are running 10's with them and I hope to see if it will last into the 9's.

Manual transmissions are harsh on driveline components... as long as you don't plan to launch with crazy power it should be fine. Get a Mazda Competition HD diff mount as the stocker will be the first to go.

Also go to the V8RX-7 messageboard if you didn't already know about it:
http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdi...?s=&forumid=11

your setup should rip in a 2700lb FC....
