Streetport or Bridge with my setup?
Ok I will have the stock tranzmission so I dont know if it can handle 10k rpms with a bridgeport. I think 9k is max but i dont know. Another thing is will a big streetport still pass emisiions if I stick a cat and airpump on ?
I have 89GXL s5 engine... what will the redline be for a streetport ? I shift at 8500 stock engine
what about a partial bridge?
What about monster bridge ? whats the reliability with this and miles ??? rpms exc
The porting is free with my rebuild by the way.

all i know is that bridge's dramatically reduce engine life, and your chances of passing smog? **** being slim, its basically none. an idle of at least 1k is needed for a bport to run right, and your car wont pass smog if it idles that high. i dont think the transmission is an issue. also, bridgeports only make power in the higher rpms, hence the high redline.
id generally go with a large streetport...you may be able to pass smog with the cat on...and engine reliability isnt reduced.

I really wouldnt recommend a BP. Have you ever seen/heard one run? Very loud, very rappy (brap brap brap) and just not all that great for a street driven car IMO. With a large streetport emissions shouldnt be a problem, you can retain a near-stock idle, and still have decent power throughout the RPM range.

you wouldn't want to hit 10k on the stock flywheel, it might shatter. They are supposed to at 10.5k, so 10k is pushing it.
I can see bridgeport being used for a race engine, but I can't see myself driving it on the street.
Just find a video of one running and you'll see what I mean. They're also loud as hell, if that's an issue to you.

Well I should've qualified my remarks by saying you can't go buy a porting template and start grinding.
Anything CAN be done if you throw enough time, energy, or money at it.
Hence we have a turbocharged 86 NA.
