Ok here's the deal, I was n charlottesvill, Va, and i had to go down to richmond. There was close to 2ft on the ground. Not only did my car not have any serious problems getting out (other then me having to dig it out) I never lost control of it. Either I'm just a good driver in bad weather, or the car is a lot better at handling bad weather than people say. Im not sure about either, I grew up in the hills of viriginia and ive driven in bad weather lots of times. So...does the rx-7 actually have good control in bad weather?

It is a blast in the snow. Here in Pa. we just got about 2 1/2 feet of snow. It can be fun but for this one I had to throw the chains on just in case. Always fun to drive the fc in the snow!

I think that RX-7s are ice skates in snow, I have had not the best of luck in the snow with my old GXL, now I have a T2 and would never ever ever ever risk taken it out in the snow. lol DAMN cold weather I hate it.

That's not a really good statement to make. Ice skates do REALLY well in snow/ice. They're very controlled. Maybe a deer on ice, but ice skates just doesn't fit. Minnesota gets their fair share of snow, and I can relate to those guys. I can't stand the people who see 5" of snow and board up their houses. Wimps!

Hye, I guess I'm just a totally crazy guy if you people are SO afraid of driving your RX in the snow !
Here in Montreal ( Quebec, Canada) we have really tough winters and, never ever lost control !
Simply have to be more carefull WHEN TO and HOW TO give it gaz
Never had problems to start or whatever neither!
My rex does even start better at -25 celcius that my friend 96 Sentra !
The most important thing is to have VERY GOOD winter tires, and studded ones are even better.

ok folks. it has to do with tires A LOT and skill. rx7s are not that bad. fitness stain, you were putting drag on the rear wheels by downshifting. at the same time shifting weight forward off those wheels. a big no no. clutch in and use the brakes. my friend made that mistake in his stang and put it into a metal light pole.
if you blow a rotor because there is snow on the ground, then the trolls and gnomes have it out for you. get some lucky charms and keep it in the passenger been.
loose conditions show the drivers from the commuters. this is the best in learning car control at low safer speeds. this my parking lot course.

Amen to that! Back in Michigan we get about -30 weather, haven't had to start the RX in it yet tho, and we usually end up with 3-4" of snow, and I just love driving on it. Roads are usually clear, always fun to find an empty parking lot, and so many people are afraid of it it's good to brag about. Ahh well, now I get to watch boston panic over 15-17 inches, yeehaw.

****, here a light dusting shuts down half the town. school buses are allergic to snow. hell, if snow is forecasted there is enough salt on the roads before hand, you can see the snow desolve 10 ft off the pavement. most of this winter my car has been white instead of black.

i live in buffalo, ny and we get just as much snow as snyplace else in the country. i have a 87 na with winter tires and i've never had a problem. in fact it handles better than my grand am that i had. if you just know how much gas to gice it you'll be fine but there's too many dumb ***** on the road that just can't drive.

the key for rx7 driving that i have learned is full tank of gas, and when your on city roads 3rd gear and keep it at 2k rpms the entire time no brake and no more preasure on the gas, its a sure fire way to never mess up and you will be fine on turns as well, the key is not to change the weight like the guy said earlier, braking is the absolute WORST thing you can do ever ! ! I dont mind driving in the wintery mix but i dont really prefer it

Whoops, I said 3-4", meant 3-4 feet My friend commutes in a vert year-round with bald perelli's on it. It doesn't do *that* bad, however it does tend to move around a lot if you know what I mean!

Uhmm... what? I think you guys haven't driven a minivan in the snow. It is 10x easier. you don't worry about your rear end. You don't worry about stopping as much (ABS). Your tires don't spin all over when you shift into 2nd gear.
I drive my TII in the snow right now, and compared to the minivan I had a few years ago, it's a pain in the ***. Yes, it takes a lot more skill, which means it is a lot more difficult. I think a lot of you are trying to sound macho, instead of looking at the bigger picture...

I guess it's based upon preference. Most people I know would rather have a RWD on snow than a fwd, partly because that's what they learned on and that's what they're used to. It's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

Tire choice is going to make a big difference in snow. Most performance tires will handle like *** in the snow compared to a good all-weather tire. Also weight in the back really helps. When it snows around here (which is not very often) I like to put 2 or 3 70lb bags of sand in the back, it makes a big difference. I also keep the chains handy just in case. With all this stuff, I have never really been stuck in the snow with my FC.

I used to have a '93 SHO, and I could keep up expressway speeds in and inch of snow. Granted that's not very smart, but that's FW drive. My RX-7 has Parada-Spec 2's, and I generally don't have too much of a problem. This weekend we just got about 5 inches of freezing rain and sleet, and my car was buried over the tire (really low profile). After digging it out, I was fine, though i wouldn't dare drive it anywhere near the speeds I would have driven my SHO. It's a tradeoff I willingly made because I wanted a car that was fun to drive rather than put the damn thing on auto-pilot and go.
And might I add, the 7 performed thi job remarkably well!
