Remember that porting requires an engine rebuild. Not worth it to pull apart a prefectly good engine unless you are very bored, have a lot of time, or about $2000 burning a hole in your wallet.

It doesn't require an engine rebuild, but while you've got it apart you might as well start fresh.

It requires engine disassembly and reassembly. This requires the typical cleaning, measuring and gasket replacement procedures in a rebuild. In theory you don't have to replace all the seals but that's just plain stupid unless you are tearing down a super low mileage engine. Hence, it requires a rebuild.

on an automatic. I would think that some gears would be a huge performance increase if you have no dont mind some slightly worst gas mileage. youll be just like a normal rx-7!
grab some 4.1's from a normal 5sp n/a or 4.3 from a miata or GTUs
stock in an auto is 3.9

that was kind of my thought to it but i was just wondering if i could port without having to do a rebuild.

ICEBLUE, would you care to elaborate on that statement? My understanding is that matching the UIM and the LIM give you minor, if any performance enhancements. Now the runners on the other hand, I have read mixed reviews. Comparing a Streetport to the option you suggest on an N/A, where would the most gain be realized?

i nay streetports on auto cars ...... u wont get full use of your power band thus actualy hindering your streetability .... i know its called a streetport but still it moves the powerband up in the rpm range .. wast of time and money unless u do a 5 spd copnversion

Spend the money on a manual swap first. Or, and I hate to say it, sell the auto 'vert and start off with one already equipped with shift-for-yourself.

I would but cuz some mod ***** do not agree with me they will just delet this thread also. But meany porters agree and meany do not. All I will say is if you want to port the timing build a custom intake manifold.

Street ports rule. Best bang for buck for the NA rotary, hands down. Of course this assumes the motor is already apart, which it will be if you own the car for a while.
