Steering Wheels
I read about FD owners hunting down Miata steering wheels all the time, but what about us FC owners? Are our racks compatible with Miata/MX5 wheels as well? Or FDs? How about boss kits? Every once in a while, I'll run into an ebay special boss kit that claims it's for both the FC and the MX5, but it doesn't mention any specific generation for the MX5. Does anyone know much about what our cars are compatible with?
Most Mazdas use the same steering column spline count and size, so lots of the Mazda wheels bolt right on a FC.
I've personally used Miata, MX-6 and 626 wheels.
All modern cars have airbags, so you'll have to fab on a horn slipring if you adapt to a FC.

I found that if you get an adapter that you should go with something brand name like MOMO or something similar. That is if you decide to run an aftermarket wheel.
I have had various hubs and Ya,they may look the same but when you get to the part that actually attaches the hub to the shaft you will see the difference.
Plastic horn ring, crappily put on..It fell off even before I installed it!

My vert has the stupid clock spring for the air bag. The airbag system doesn't even work, and judging by the way the airbag light flashes, it is telling me that the airbag wouldn't deploy anyway! (code translates to airbag computer failure).
I have been thinking of getting a tilt column from another rx7 with steering wheel to eliminate the whole clockspring issue.

personally when you are used to driving the FC with the stock wheel and go to an adapter I feel it puts the wheel a bit too close to feel natural
so the key with an fd/miata wheel is no hub adapters http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nardi-Gara-Steering-Wheel-From-JDM-Mazda-Miata-S-Limited-Leather-Rare-NA-NB-/281428842194?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item41867756d2&vxp=mtr

Also, if I toss the old steering wheel for a wheel without an airbag, is there anything fancy I need to do electronically to get the airbag system to shut up? I'm having doubts this 27 year old system will work anyways.
Do you have any other recommendations then?
