Steering wheel help

So I bought a new wheel and hub adapter. my friend has poped my old wheel off when i was in my house and i came out to see that it was fubar. Meaning the alignment of everything is now messed up. Can anyone tell me the best way to get it all back to the place. I just need to know which way the arrows are spost to point on the flasher control unit with the 2 ***** and the hub arrow. If this has already been talked about im sorry. Just trying to finaly get my car up and running thank you

Just wanted to toss in that if you bought an ebay wheel+hub for like 50 bucks, they are junk, it took me hours to get it to fit then it felt like utter crap. paid 50 bucks, and worth about 5.

How to align steering angle sensor - picture from FSM

Hope this helps...align the arrows...one moves one doesn't...both should be at 9 o'clock when you're mounting the steering wheel on.

If you screw this up, the power steering computer (metal box about 7" x 7" mounted under the steering column) will beep a code like this:

b=beep

b.b.b.b.b.....b.b.b.b.b.....b.b.b.b.b.

See FSM for more info (see my signature for links), Body Electrical Chapter.

Ok I lined the 2 arrows on the sensor alignement up at 9oclock and my wheel is still not strait. its just a tad off and if i move the arrows they wont be aligned anymore.

So if i have my wheel turned strait the car will drive to the side. the right side t be exact. So what should I do in this situation.

May need to have an alignment shop (or you) adjust the tie rod ends to center the steering wheel. Other than that, you'll have to put the wheel on however it has to go.

I am not sure how the aftermarket one is, but with my stock one, I would just pull the wheel off and rotate a degree or too, drive to see if it was straight, pull of and rotate a degree or two and repeat until it was straight. On mine, the arrows could line up and the steering wheel could be upside down.

Yes, what chiefnobum said. It'll get you very close...the stuff I said about adjusting tie rods is only if you want it dead straight, because the splines are always a few degrees apart.

If your Front wheels are Not Straight,then Jack up the Front of the car,so that you can just Grab a wheel and get the Front wheels straight with the Back wheels.then Put the hub AND steering wheel on as One unit.The steering wheel should be Close to center,If not Look at the Front wheels again and Line it up again.this time you don't Have to jack the car up,as you can just Pop the hub and Wheel off and align it More Precisely(one spline at a Time.)

well...i dunno about steering angle sensor, i never looked into it, i had my s-wheel off, and when i put it back in.. i just make sure the lock to lock is even, then.. i do my alignment... with the tierod ends. i wanna be able to turn the steering wheel equal amounts left and right ofcourse. LOL.

to do a good, simple alignment, NOT for track use, but can get your steeringwheel straight as hell if done right... feels normal.

just make sure when you look down the side of your car.. your front of your front tire is line up with the rear of your front tire, and it looks to perfectly cover the front of your rear tire. if it dosent, adjust it a little and roll the car back and forth make sure the wheel is straight... then... look again.. repeat until good then testdrive!! you are good to go!
