starting problems on a 10ae
ok im getting closer and closer to fixing my car. I got my injecotrs back form rc and put them in but the car still starts real hard. i still need to use my cutoff switch and hold the accelerator to the floor to get it to start. i removed the vacum spider and ran new lines. new upper to lower manifold gasket. all emissions removed and blocked off. silicone vacum hoses. TID with rubber connectors and cone intake. anyone got any ideas what it could be?the plugs and wires have less than 200 miles on them. one suggestion was a bad fuel pressure regulator. trhe vacum hose is hooked right into the lower manifold if that makes any difference

The exhaust leak shouldn't mean a damn thing.
Try this: take the air box off and have someone push and hold the AFM door fully open and see if she starts more easily...

Well, that trick is to find out if a vac leak is causing the hard starting...
Dunno what to suggest then. PM RETed maybe - he's the guy to ask when you have a question about a turbo'ed 7.

Hey bro, I was in the same boat as you. You know where you hooked up the fuel pressure reg? Right to that nipple on the lower intake manifold? That is your problem. You MUST have the fuel pressure reg hooked up to the bottom nipple of the upper intake manifold, behind the throttlebody(the nipple underneath where the vaccum line for the Oil injector spide connects to) that should take care of it. that nipple is one that receives fresh clean air, and also receives it earlier in the intact tract.
what makes the difference where it is hooked up? im going ot move it anyway im just curious. the car ran ok before i removed the emissions and stuff just had a real bad hotstart problem i didn't mess with the ignition excpet for changing plugs and wires. that was less than 200 miles ago
yes i removed the letal lines but i know the new ones are run right. the car runs pretty good except for the exhaust leak. it is just a bitch to get started especially when it's cold
i moved the vacum hose for the fpr from the lower manifold to the upper manifold. the car runs a little better but i still need to turn the fuel pump off and floor it to get it to start. all 4 injectors were cleaned a week ago by RC

on fuel injected cars that is a sign of fuel fouling, if you had your injectors cleaned, I would double check your ignition system, as well as your fuel pump, low and high pressure fuel filters, and all lines
yes i do know how ot use a regular compression tester on a rotary. i will check it sometime this weekend. the fuel filter is pretty new as are the lines. im going to try a new set of plugs and wires just for ***** and giggles. what exactly is fuel fouling? i've never heard of it
