starting issues. s5 na

Hmm so i went to start up my other rx-7 the other day. Been a while since i drove it so figured i should went up to start it and motor turned but battery didnt have enough juice to start it. So tried a jump start, still no go. I charged teh battery over night and attempted to start it again on a good battery, "click click click" I have auto seat belts and they are supposed to move when u open the door, they dont but when inside the car i hear click click click like the motors are tryin to work, and what sounds like clicking from the ecu area. Turn parkin lights on and no go. Ok so maybe my battery is dead. I threw in a spare battery to test that idea yesterday. Got in cab, parking lights turned on it beeps while key is in ignition go to start and click. Its not turnin over. Ok well that battery has been sitting a while so i charged that one over night. Today i go to give it a shot, for some reason today i get the click click click again from the ecu area and seat belt motors. Parking lights do not turn on car does not turn.
Ive never had something like this happen before. i checked all cables to make sure they are tight and they are. Motor is rebuilt, car is well taken care of.
Lookin for some ideas on where to go next.

Make sure to check your voltage during the turn-over... It should drop to maybe around 8v at the lowest, any more and your batteries are toast no matter what charge they hold. Check your grounds and your wiring to your starter. I know on mine, I had a bad battery and a fried solenoid... Take starter to place to test it as well as batteries.

the problem with that is that the car isnt turnin over cuz its not getting power. This is a dumb question but where does the ground on the battery ground to block or chassis? i couldnt locate it before the sun went down. If it were the solenoid what would that have to do with my lights not turnin on and the lack of power throughout the car? thank you for the reply !

Well, the most basic form of getting electricity from your battery is grounded to the chassis. You can just take a custom cable (I have) and just ground it somewhere that connects well with the body. All else fails, break out the FSM and start following the wiring because that's generally how you can find breaks.

Can you verify that the batteries are good? YOu can't just use a multimeter, You have to put a load on it to see the Amps that it is producing. You may have some bad batteries. If not the batteries than Maybe start looking for a short somewhere. These cars are electrical nightmares.

2nd. I cannot ever seem to get why people think a simple voltage check of a battery is going to tell anything. Charge virtually any (almost dead) battery overnight and it will show 11-13 volts...
But amperage is another matter...which is what's needed to start a car. In other words, if a person doesn't actually have a true battery testing device, simply take it to your local Autozone-type-place for testing. Then work from there...rather than doing what I see many do - they avoid testing the battery, alternator, etc. yet nickel and dime the little things (cables, connections, etc.), not wanting to accept the inevitable.

The negative cable for the battery gets grounded in two places by the same cable.

One end is grounded on the starters long attach bolt. That said, you can bolt it to one of the engine/transmission bolts and do the same. The OTHER place that cable gets grounded, is to the chassis at the bottom of the front left strut tower.

So the batt gnd goes to the engine/transmisson AND the chassis.

ahh now i remember thank you hailers. I cant put batttery under any kind of load because the car does not turn over, unless you call "load" trying to turn the lights on which FAILs because they dont. Im wondering if it is the ground to the starter, i had a problem with it months ago where i would go to start push clutch in and get nothing pump clutch once more and it would start up, wonder if it had something to do with the cable being loose possibly? Not quite sure what that would have to do with my lights not turning on though.

Clean all connections for the starter, and the battery.(so Battery connections,Ground,Check the Fuse Block connection too) then go under the Car and Clean off the Main terminal and wires, and also the Small Solenoid tab...If it doesn't start then,at least you Know all you connections are now Clean..(but it does sound like a bad connection).
