So my car was stolen... How do i prevent this from happening again.

So my car was stolen, luckily it was found within 2 hours of me reporting it, with what he said only damage to the windshield. For once the local pigs did something good . Now this makes me worried of other break ins, like i just bought my 7 on the 24th and already jacked, wtf!. Unfortunately my landlord is being a dick and she wont give me an underground parking stall (instead allocating 2 to another family). My question what are the best methods to protect our cars? immobilizers? alarms? club (had one didn't stop though)?

lol that might work but will probably stink up the place pretty good. besides having a really well hidden fuel cut switch wired from the fuel relay under the dash, the only other real way to prevent a car from being stolen short from stealing it with a flat bed is disconnection things. if your that worried (and your area sounds shitty lol don't worrie i don't even bring my 7 to mine) find something easy to unplug that no one will think of, or find a really damn good place to hide a fuel cut switch. Mine happens to be in the flip up ash tray. not the greatest but who looks there?

you can make one its pretty easy just go to any store that sells electrical switches (not the house kind) you just want an on/off noting fancy. then if you have a FSM (factory service manual) there is a fuel relay under your drive side dash. it looks like a black cube with i think a 6 pin plug. (might be less) all you do is wire the switch into that so when u turn the switch off the fuel relay has no power.

An alarm system is the way to go. I mean you can still steal the car, but you'd have to disconnect the battery, uninstall the alarm system. then hot wire it, taking at least an hour, which most thieves won't spend that much time trying to jack a car. They're pretty cheap nowadays. i got mine installed for under $400. You could always lojack it to, so if it does get stolen, they could locate it instantly, but that'll cost you, and I'm pretty sure there's a monthly charge, like $30 or something rediculous like that!

Awesome to hear you got it back though, I wasn't so lucky when my car was stolen! Only had liability, so I got the shaft! A big one, right in the anus!!!!

You would have to make one. There are many writeups on it due to flooding problems. Just do a search. My personal favorite spot for one would be in the center council. That will prevent someone from stealing your car but not vandalizing it. If your that worried you might also look for garage parking in your area.

If you are really worried, Just pull the fuses everytime you park it. Keeping the stock head unit in the car won't motivate any thieves to try to take your stereo (had a REALLY nice Eclipse unit taken from my 240). Tinted windows usually tip off thieves to stuff concealed inside. Always lock the doors, most of the time theft is a crime of opportunity.

alarm is good,

or a cheaper method is a hidden fuel pump kill switch. wire it so its in a place only u know.

that would stop most theifs, if they break in and the car wont even start, most theifs will run off, as it would take too much time/risk to try and figure out why the car wont start.

do ignition kill switch hidden in the engine bay. They also sell a clutch STEEL bar lock at walmart for 70 bucks, its anti theft guranteed, and they refund you $5000 if ur car gets stolen..

Get an alarm that is very sensitive to vibrations. Mine goes off if I lean on the car to hard. Also semi's air brakes set it off in parking lots. At least I know its not going anywhere. I also set the factory alarm as well.

lo jack is a pretty heffty price.. there is a write up on a DIY lo jack system... all you do is get an old GPS nextel phone (15 bucks on ebay), buy some minutes to last you 3 motnhs (10 bucks), download the tracking program (free dollars) and connect it to the phone. You can track your phone anywhere in the US. You can do some tricky wiring that can have the phone on all the time. Or you can just keep charging it every time you drive. Hide it in a place that no one can find it... oh yeah keep it on silent.

my buddy did this, its not in real time like second by second... it lags about every 5 min or so. By the time the cops come over you can tell them where the location of your car is.

i thought of something else...

loosen all your lug nuts after you park. that way if someone takes off in your car, they will only get a few feet before the wheels fall off.

^if not

get an interior car alarm horn... its a high pitch horn that will have your ears ringing for a long time. make it impossible for the thief to work from the inside of your car

theres lots of preventative measures you can do but the bottom line is that if someone really wants your ride, they're gonna get it. but that doesnt mean you have to hand it to them. best medicine for this is truthfully a garage, but that is a bit unrealistic if you dont already have one.
