starting car and releasing clutch
morning guys, just a quick question cars running good, but when i start it and release the clutch the fan kicks on for just a second or 2 and then shuts off is this normal? should the fan turn on and stay on? or not turn on at all? this is immediately after starting the car and as soon as i engage the clutch. i dunno if this is good or bad, just needing input

Ok, the engine fan and the clutch are in no way related to each other. The stock fan should spin when you start the car and should never stop spinning. You need to go a little more in depth. Are you hearing a sound? does your engine bog severely?
Check it out and come back and tell us what is going on.

well thats what i'm asking, yes i'm going competely on sound, no the engine runs great. it sounds like fan, as soon as the clutch comes up, i get a wiirrr and then it stops after about 3 seconds, my clutch is bad and so is my throw-out and pilot bearing most likely from the sounds i get shifting outta first, but this fan noise is completely different, can you hear the clutch fan? in the morning i'll pop the hood and warm it up and get a good look. i'm just curious if anyone is familiar with this

Change your tranny fluid. Make sure to use something that is high quality. Mine does the same thing, but whoever had it before me when it started didn't change out the fluid. My bearings on the input shaft are now shot and I need a tranny rebuild.
This could also be from the throwout bearing starting to go bad, which means you have to remove the tranny. If that is what it is, you should also go ahead and replace the clutch/pressure plate/ pilot bearing while you are at it. And also change out the tranny fluid. It'll give you back some of that buttery smooth shifting action it had when it was new.

sorry you must have missed what i said before the clutch is pretty much gone, it's getting replaced in a week or so along with the throw-out and pilot bearing.
so i know there bad, but this is another sound along with the throwout, if it was another car i'd describe the sound as the fan that kicks on when you turn the car off to cool it. but this is when i start the car and let out the clutch, not even putting it in gear

Have A/C?-Check in front of radiator for the factory electric fan. Turn on the a/c and hear the fan roar.
I believe if you start in neutral the accelerated warmup system has the fan kick on for a few seconds. I've started mine in first for years to avoid this. Sorry, had the S5TII since new, and it is just been a habit to start in first gear to avoid all the "noise" and very high idle.
