Have an A/T tranny issue
Okay. I have a 1991 A/T convertible, and I'm having some serious issues right now that are leading to other more complicated issues over time. For one, I have no reverse. Secondly, as far as forward gears, I only have 1st and 2nd(as denoted by the obvious shifting by the A/T transmission). First of all, before I spend all kinds of big money that I don't actually have, can I get an expert opinion on what I should first do? I am by no means a mechanic, nor am I friends with any(so far as getting work done cheap, or a free diagnostic). Please freakin' help!! I love my RX but it's driving me(or not so much at all) crazy!

I would first Check the Linkage.to see if It is Positioning the Gear selector on the transmission Correctly. It could be out of whack and not allowing you to get Reverse or Park.you would have to Have someone shifting the Shifter while you look at the Transmission Gear linkage from down under the car.YOu can have the Car Not running,or up on Stands,But by all Means,be careful)..It's a Start.

I just trashed the auto trans from a 90 GTU in favor of a turbo 2 manual trans on saturday, for my 13b-re project car. I would have given it away, but CA is a long way from MD anyways.
If it turns out you need a new trans computer let me know. I still have that.
