Question starter problem?

well today i went to start my s4 TII and it didnt crank at first when i turned the key then it started cranking really slow like the battery was dead but i turned the key in the off position and it kept cranking real slow and it sounded really shitty i quick tried to dissconect the battery but it stopped before i got to it...now all it does is make a lound click sound when i turn the key and it wont crank at all...the starter is brand new and before i replaced it it used to do that..i would turn the key and nothing would happen but after a couple trys it would start...so im wondering if this is the starter or a relay or maybe even the ignition in the colum..i did try to pop start it and it fired right up..im stumped what do you guys think?

Could be a bad starter. You should bring it back if its new. Was it a rebuild?

I have a similar issue. New starter, good battery, good connections, good cables but 60% of the time i have to hit start severaltimes before it will crank. I suspect my ignition switch is bad becaus I drop 5v on the S terminal when starter is acting up. I haven't gone further because I haven't ever had it not start. If anyone know of a common problem with the ignition switches I'm all ears. Good luck.

Theres a clutch safety switch. (to keep you from starting the car in gear) You might want to check that. If you dont hold the clutch down all the way or if it's not adjusted properly it wont let the starter engage. Also sometimes the switch goes bad.

If the security light is flashing when you are starting the car, this is not good. The security will disable the starter so you cant start the car.

If the starter turns slowly, it's not the security system or clutch switch. Probably a bad starter in that case.

the starter was new but the guy said that it had a faulty solinoid... i think somethings fucked up with my ignition and its causeing it to short out....the new starter sounds really strange and high pitched now...i think the guy who wired up my turbo timer fucked my wireing up because when i put my windows up it makes a buzzing sound in the turbo timer and it trips the ignition and it starts to count down...i dunno wtf is wrong..

same problem here. I have 3 starters and they all do the same exact thing. When I turn the key the solenoid will click but the engine wont turn. After a few more tries it might turn over if im lucky but it sounds like the solenoid keeps engaging and disengaging. 3 starters....same thing for every one of them so its a wiring or relay problem for sure. Any ideas? it seems to me the solenoid isnt getting the adequate power it needs.
