starter going out?
When i go to start my car, sometimes the starter won't spin at all, I can push start the car fine, but sometimes when I turn the key all I hear is one click and nothing.
Other times, if the starter does spin, it spins very slow, and then speeds up, and the car starts. I'm pretty sure its the starter, but before I go and replace it I want to make sure nothing else could cause these symtoms.
Thanks
-Minh

Most likely, especially if it's the original equipment. You can also check the wiring at the starter for security just in case. Is the battery fairly new?

When ones Ive had go out, they always go out slowly like that. As a last resort, you can try smacking it with a hammer. Sometimes that gets it to work a few more times..

when your starter is slowing down like that the brushes on the arm are most likely going out and loosing thier connection, so you coculd jsut take yours to a rebuild shop and get a new solenoid and turn the arm down and new brushes and new paint

One thing you may do is check your grounds near the starter. I was having a similar problem before, and I had ordered a new starter and everything, but when I got under the car and started poking around, I found a ground wire was not connected. I reattached it, car cranked fine.

Yea, clean the starter connections first (and check other electrical connections too).
Also, you can take your starter in to most auto shops to have it checked.
