need cluch help

Question need cluch help

hi,i'm new to and this is my first post.i just got a '86 rx-7 form this guy in Ga. ,anyway i drive it from there to Louisiana where i live.everything was fine but now i can't get it to go into gear,and the cluch petal feel soft when i press it and the petal doesn't return.also it grinds when i try to put it into gear and it will not go into gear.does anyone know what what could be wrong.thanks in advance

Could be anything from a bad Slave or Master Cylinder or a throw-out Bearing or it even may just need bled.

My first thought is check the clutch fluid, if its full (or empty)try bleeding the clutch (after you put fluid in if its empty of course) and see what it does. If you bleed it and it is still very soft i would try replacing the Slave cylinder....I had the exact same thing happen in my old TII and the Slave cylinder was the culprit.

could be the pivot ball on the front of the transmission plate, thats what mine was

Either the slave or master cylinder has failed. It's grinding because it is failing to disengage the disc from the flywheel.
