Starter Bolt Stuck

I was removing the starter, and the upper mounting bolt is stuck. It spins, and the head is in tact, but the threads are stripped. The car doesnt run right now, and Im taking the engine out with the trans attatched for a rebuild, can I remove the engine with the starter still attached, but disconnected. And how can I keep from doing this again?

Um...that long bolt has a *NUT* at the end of it.
It's not stripped.

Affirmative. Its a bit of a pain to get at the rear bolt but its possible with a 14mm(i think) wrench.

14mm wrench is correct. it's the same size as the head of the mounting bolt. I found the best way to tackle the re-mounting and tightening a LOT easier once I realized I could fit my arm around the other side of the sub-frame and closed my eyes, working by my sense of touch.
