Stalling under decel... searched everywhere

I am having some serious issued with my car. I only recieved it about a month ago and just got it on the road Monday.

I have been having issues with stalling. First off the car idles at 650 and I will be disconnecting the BAC and jumping the connector tomorrow to adjust idle. Also when I am driving and it tends to only happen under heavy acceleration if i put the car in neutral and brake the car will drop to like 500 and stall out. If i drive lightly (gingerly) the car will drop to 500 then bounce back up a little.

I have searched and many people have said to adjust the dashpot which I am planning on doing tomorrow as well as adjusting the idle. I was just curious if anyone on here has had this exact same problem and has figured out a sure fire way to fix it.

Thanks guys

I agree with Icemark. You could also have a problem with your BAC. Adjust the tps using a multimeter. Its more accurate. Is your car a turbo?

Ok guys sheez. I personally can not tell you your problem but the odds are that IceMark is right so I will go off of what he has suggest and try and help you out and other members.

First thing is to set your idle. Unplug your BACV and make sure you do not have your motor under a load. Now try and get as close as you can to 750rpm using the fast idle cam adjustment screw on the TB. Once you have done this go ahead and test that your BACV is good using a multi meter per the FSM. If in deed your BACV is good then plug it up and fine tune you’re idle to get it right in there using the adjustment on the BACV.

Now turn your car off and leave the key to ON. Adjust your TPS.

Now move the tps plunger from one end of its travel to the other while watching the meter for open readings.
Now go see how your car is behaving. Hopefully all is well.

Ok well I adjusted the dashpot and that fixed it. The other problem I am having is under WOT the tps reads 6000 ohms but when idling the tps reads 80 ohms and its supposed to read 1000. I tried to adjust it but it wouldnt go higher than 80 or so and wouldnt go lower than 40. Whatever I did adjusting it the bucking in gears is way worse now. Is this a sign of a worn out tps and i need to replace it?

yep. Sounds like a worn spot/flat spot

Try cranking the adjustment **** up a turn and starting, and then again. See if you can find a spot that it works

Yea ice i just built a homemade diagnostic tool because I failed emissions. The tool lit up a faulty tps sensor. I may just go and replace it.

The problem I have now is that i failed MA emissions because my C0 grams were at 69 and they can only be at 30. This is a result of incomplete fuel combustion. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this problem? Has anyone had anything like this before? I dont even know where to start with incomplete fuel combustion...

the TPS set right will help as well as a new O2 sensor.

You also still have the air pump working right?

well the air pump is attached still so i believe it is working correctly... so with the tps set correctly and a new 02 sensor would that help enough to pass emissions? I know it is running rich you can smell the thing from a mile away

Same exact problem on my 87 t2. I took it today for inspection and it failed miserably. It has the same exact problems as yours. Its not burning all of the fuel. Limit on HC is 220 and mines at 2732. How the hell do I fix that?
