Speedomoter cable broke

Coming home from work today I hear a loud clunk and then something that sounded like metal dragging on the ground. Then I notice my speedo says 0. =( I pulled over and tucked the cable up so it wasnt dragging on the ground, but what parts am I going to need, or is it possible to just reattach it? Also no my car beeps like it does if you stall it, is that because the car doestn know its moving or what?

If you didn't drag it too long, you probably won't need to replace it. I don't think that beeping should have anything to do with your speedo cable. Mine has never beeped with the cable off (and mine has fallen off a few times on different cars).

It should be on the driver's side just behind the gear housing. I think page 7-4 in the fsm should give you an idea of where it is. It's super easy

Is there supposed to be a a cable inside that rubber hose? Because its just empty on mine =( I screwed it back on but I still have no speedomoter, so what parts do I need? Also would it be ok to drive my car without a speedo (other than not knowing how fast I am going)?

i'm guessing if its ok with you then its ok. However if you got pulled over and the cop came to discover your spedo didn't work. That would probably be some extra ticket.

Pip - I recommend Advance Auto Parts to get the speedo cable, i got one from em for 7.xx not shabby Your Odo will be slightly off, and don't get caught, but yeah, i drove mine for a day or two without one
