speedo and rpm guage Q

i saw a intrustment panel of a 89 convert. that said redline of 8 grand and 160 mph. my 88 convert redlines at 7 grand and says 150 mph. i dont care about the mph but why does my 88 convert redline at 7 grand and the 89 redline at 8. different cams?

If it isn't the cams, it may be that the convertable is N/A......or it's an aftermarket gauge...sure its the cams though...
