out of curiosity, how in the world does it look like its trying to look like an american muscle car? that just never came to mind. looked at it again and still had no clue.
there's nothing wrong with exposed carbon fiber. its an accent. an accent can look bad, but i think this was well done. besides, carbon fiber doesn't rust. who needs paint? on a more radical note, look at HKS' carbon fiber altezza and lancer. they're all carbon fiber. i wouldn't change a thing on those cars. i think carbon fiber, naturally having that black color, is perfect for adding a contrast. i don't think it, in any way, relates to ***** problems. people needing to prove their well being with a car maybe, but carbon fiber shouldnt be the first to blame.
moreso, fc3s.org deals with fiberglass and carbon fiber parts. showing them off is part of business. prepping it and painting it completely ruins showing off the original piece.

wasn't directly refering to them having problems with their manhoods. More the people that use it on their cars like that on purpose. If it doesn't rust then why even have a clear gloss coat?

The muscle car thing is from the wheels/tires. I also think the neg. camber is gay looking.

Well carbon fiber products are usually more expensive and many people find it a plus that they dont HAVE to paint it which saves them money and they might even like it better as exposed CF. They have clearcoat on them to help prevent scratches and not look dull.

I am totally open to anyones opinion on the car. I built it with my partner Matt here at the shop. It was built to his taste, and the majority of people that have seen it and commented on have liked it as well. That's not to say that someone doesn't or won't like it, and that's fine. If we were building a car for you, then it would be built the way you like it. If people only built cars to everyones liking, then no one would ever build cars due to the differences of opinions in the world. To say things like "talk about ***** problems..." is just stupid for lack of better words. When you say things like that, people tend to oversee your opinion and go straight at you. Maybe some food for thought there... You didn't obviously attend SEMA or you would have hated every car there for the most part. There were things done with CF there that I had never seen prior to that point. Have you ever seen the cars at the Tokyo Auto Salon? 90+% of those cars are riddled in CF too. So I would say that the industry of car parts, especially import cars is heavily into carbon fiber parts. Since we are in the parts and cars business, it would and does only make sense to have such items on our car so we can display them and potentially sell them to others that like them.

The clearcoat is just to make the part more appealing. That is why you clearcoat a car. Would look sorta stupid to have a $1600 paint job, and not have it cleared wouldn't you agree? Therefore it doesn't make sense to have say CF canards or a CF lip or a full CF hood not clearcoated. The wheels were made for the car. They are custom 3 piece wheels. Are you saying that since Bogart makes domestic wheels as well that the RT's are defaulted to muscle car wheels? So then Volks, which can also fit domestic cars, must be muscle car wheels. Again, I think not. I know of 4 cars locally that run those wheels that are full blown race cars. One is an NSX, one is an FD and 2 are TT Supra's. I have never seen them on a "muscle car" Matter of fact, in San Diego imports out number muscle cars 20-1. Maybe where you live that is different. Again, difference of opinion. Let me know what "muscle car" it looks like if you wouldn't mind. I don't see it either.

It must have not been too bad to be requested as one of the 3 cars of the entire show that every import magazine wanted to shoot it for their SEMA issue. (Super Street, Turbo, Modified Mag, Max Power, Import Tuner to list a few)

Either way, I respect everyones opinion, even if I don't agree with it. I just thought it was a bit ignorant to base your opinion on *****'

Dave, I really dont think that you even needed to respond to that immature comment. To each his own - some like CF and some don't. Some like it painted and some like it exposed. Honestly, who cares. Last I checked, we werent living in red china.

I say just keep the awsome parts comin'!!!

Oh, and for all the other kids out there...try not to ruin this cool thread by saying something else thats stupid.

see, i looked at the wheels and just didn't think "musclecar." of course, personally, i wouldn't mind Weld wheels. they're a great wheel and look good. for the same price, though, i could probably get Volks or, my fave, the BBS LM.
funny you bring up Volks and domestic vehicles, Dave. i wasn't sure what point you were making (not trying to start anything either ). a lot of imports and domestics share wheel fitments. also, Volk is german for nation/people/crowd. i just thought that was funny.
so who did you choose to let cover your car? i like a few of the ones you listed; Modified i think is great and seems unique in a sense. maybe the lack of hondas?? Turbo because, well, a lot of forced induction cars. and Max Power because they have boobies in their mag and i like to learn british slang (ie: flick the bean). a very raunchy car mag. i think i would aim for Modified and RXTuner.

Well, I certainly am very impressived with the clean install of everything. Whether I like some of the aspects of the car or not, its hard to overlook the attention to detail.

I will be duplicating your EMS harness install, once I get my new one Very clean compared to the mess I have now...Imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery

I was just using the Volk comment as a refference. I personally really like the Weld drag wheels. I am looking into getting some for a drag FC that I have had going for awhile, but that is for another thread... The BBS LM is a DOPE wheel, but I just can't afford that kind of stuff for my car LOL I have 5Zigen FN01R-C's on my TII. They are just right for my wallet! Wheels are a funny thing. Almost everyone has a different favorite wheels. Personally if money wasn't an option, I would be rilling on HRE's

We ended up going with Super Street since their schedule ended up being perfect for us. Max Power is coming over to the shop on Tuesday to shoot it as well since they are out of the country and not a conflicting mag. The mag companies are really funny. You have to sign a disclosure when they shoot your car so you don't have any other photo ops until theirs is printed. So we have to wait for another US mag until the Super Street issue comes out. Then we are open for another round is we are fortunate enough I was honored to have so much attention with the car. I have a great deal of pride in the work I do, and it feels good to have magazine editors like what you have done.

I don't want to argue with people over the car. The fact is you like it or don't. I just wanted to show people the car.

thats the thing, i dont mind how it looks, i just dont like it for an FC. i dont know why it looks like a muscle car wanna be, to me it just does, not because of the wheels alone, just the design as a whole.

good job on the car, i dont intend on any kind of bashing of the car, something about it just comes off as a wanna be muscle car to me

so do you do the sunroof cf panel by itself *poke* *poke*

Stop the Hate!!!!

Dave,

First of all, let me once again heap praise upon your FC. It is a very good looking and unique car which clearly reflects the many hours of hard work, not to mention the big dollars which are required to have a machine like yours.

Secondly, yes it does resemble a domestic muscle car. It has a shitload of horsepower!!!

Thirdly, my opinion on opinions. I posted pics of my car awhile back to share with my fellow RX7 enthusiasts and was shocked my some of the comments. The majority of the comments were positive, but there were some people who were just too eager to bash it, or to call it rice. In fact, the thread was temporarily closed due to two poeple bickering back and forth. Like Dave, I welcomed comments, even if they were negative in nature. What I did not understand then, nor do I now, is why people are so critical of others rides. Stating ones' opinion is one thing, but being so judgemental is another.

One person went as far as to say there was "nothing" they liked about my car. I thought that was a ridiculous statement my an ignorant indvidual. I did not even respond to it. I have spent literally hundreds of man hours, as well as thousands of dollars on my car to get it where it is today, and for someone to come out in such a negative fashion bothered me.

If you start at the beginning of this thread and read it's entirety, you too will see some undeserving attacks. No one car can please everyone. I believe many just set back and await someone to post pics just so they can trash it or call it rice. In fact within the thread I started more people made comments about my wing than anything else. Even though I had a unique RB Holley setup up or a custom blue metallic paint job. Once again I was shocked by all of the negativity. What was even more interesting to me was when I went to their VB Garage and looked at their rides. Give me a break!!!

Another thread you can see more neagtivity is the one by Carl Byck who has also built a unique machine. His car is also very admirable and reflects his dedication to the 7. Nice ride Carl.

I just wanted to share my opinion.

Thanx

Michael
