Exclamation A-spec vs JDM

Hey guys i've been looking up info for the JDM & all i find are the A-specs. I'm curios to know what are BHP differences between an A-spec and a JDM in the 13bt S4/S5 if anyone can post some information. All i've found was this site http://www.rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/rx7specs.html and another similar with the same info... I'm just curios to know if it was worth it for me to get my JDM after all instead of a A-spec s5...

They are identical. The only differences is a few emissions things, not sure any details. They are both rated at the same BHP, though. The main reason to get a J-spec is because they are generally low-mileage engines. That said, they are also junk-yard engines which means the internal soft seals are of questionable shape. They do make great rebuild cores, though.

There is no power or performance difference. Search the 2ns Gen section for "JDM" and "J-spec" to finc the dozens of threads discussing this...

Thumbs up

I wanted to compare the specs and ratios... wanted to see... word of mouth is that the JDM has more Power and better performance so i wanted to read it for myself to find the truth... I was told that it had 10 to 15 more BHP over the A-spec. I have searched the forums and found about 15 threads but they were not as specific... thanks for the input...

You mean search aimlessly, since just about everything valid/useful has been wiped clean.

My JDM engine didn't come with an EGR... which I liked because I was removing emissions anyway. I bought an A-Spec ECU and used my A-Spec harness. When I sent off my engine to get rebuilt by Rotary Resurrection, Kevin said that the engine was in great condition. Well, except for the apex seals. It's pretty much a "coin-flip" if you buy a JDM engine. Good or bad. In my case mine was obviously bad... because of the apex seals on the rear rotor. Anyway, I would just get an A-spec from someone on the forum. One that previously had been running.

Officially, they are rated 185ps for Zenki and 205ps for Kouki.
Adjusted for SAE HP ratings, it translates into 182hp and 200hp respectively.
It's EXACTLY the same power rating as all US-spec engines.

The only difference is some of the Infini motors have slightly more power - like ~220hp.
