alright i was wondering what everything thinks is the best sounding car system that wont break the bank. im putting the speakers in my 300zx and they are 4x6 in the front and 6.5 in the rear. i know that boston acoustic is the best but they are also way to much and out of my price range. only have about 200$

Do you have an amplifier? There is absolutely no reason to get premium speakers if you do not have the power to move them.
If you are just running them off of the deck, get some with ~30 watts rms rating. Yes, that is a bit above the decks rms output, but you won't find any that will match the normal 22 watt rms output of the deck.

Do you have an amplifier? There is absolutely no reason to get premium speakers if you do not have the power to move them.
If you are just running them off of the deck, get some with ~30 watts rms rating. Yes, that is a bit above the decks rms output, but you won't find any that will match the normal 22 watt rms output of the deck.

You CAN use 4 ohm speakers and it will be okay if you are on a budget, it just lowers the amount of power output by the bose amp, but on the flip side, rewiring them to a decent amplifier would be best. Choose whatever is in your budget.
Since the impedance will be mismatched if you go with 4 Ohm speakers, you need to get some low power rated speakers. 30 watt RMS or as close as possible. It'll sound fine.
Judging by your post though, you may be better served by an amp in the hatch. It only takes a 10" sub in the hatch of your car you hurt your ears, so you could do that. Also, you could get an amp for the door speakers. Since you have a tweeter and door woofer, you'd need a set of component speakers to make that work well.
Too add, adding a 2 channel amp would only do your door speakers. If you wnet with a 2 channel, you'd need to wire your rear speakers to the deck, as you'd disable your bose system. It gets complicated when a vehicle comes with a premium sound system.

I have BAs in all of my car, I love them and have used them for many many years. That being said MB quarts are the best I have ever heard!. But bang for the buck I go BA every time.

infinity: great speakers, great highs mids and hitting bass from tiny 4" speakers, sounded EXCELLENT in my FB
Alpines: They were the "back" of my FB, they needed alil moar juice but they hit pretty hard, mids were decent, highs were great.
People preferred my old fb's audio over other friends of ours with crazy sub systems n such, I had no woofer just pure speakers, and yes you could hear my car from far away - you'd hear clear perfect audio :]
Now pioneer 2 way's seem pretty nice too, I also like Polk audio.

Bostons are no longer the best. They were bought out and the quality has suffered. Infinity Kappa are among the best out there. DEI makes a good set. JBLs are bad *** too.
My current favorite subs are the Infinity Kappa series. I also love the Orion XTR, and the high end model Kicker Solos (I can't remember the series number)
I strongly suggest you cut out the fronts to fit at least a 5.25. 6 or 6.5 are better. First of all, an oval speaker cone will distort unevenly because of the shape. Also, the bigger the woofer, the better the midbass. I have not heard a 4x6 that sounded as good as a 4" or bigger at moderate to high levels.
I also suggest separates as opposed to coaxials or triaxials. you will have a separate two way crossover that will cut the highs out of the woofer, and hopefully have a 12dB crossover slope. you also have more options to aim the tweeter for optimal placement.
To save space, money, and complexity, I suggest you get a head unit that has a built in crossover. Make sure you can run the high pass through the deck. that way you only have to buy a sub amp and can cut the bass from your separates without having multiple amps.
As with most things, you get what you pay for. But a little shopping around, and taking the time to install it correctly will pay dividends.
My 7 has one 8" sub, 2 6.5 Kappas, rolling off naturally in the rear, then a set of 5.25" Kappa separates in front. I don't have a head unit anymore, I just use my phone for everything. but I have two amps, one has a built in cross over with highpass out put. the whole system, including wire, weighs in at 18 pounds. It won't win any SPL competitions, but it sounds great and more than loud enough to over come my loud exhaust on the highway.

I need to know what and how you are going to power them to give you any advice. I can tell you right now, running the bose system amplifiers on aftermarket speakers is not a good idea. The Bose system uses 1 and 2 ohm speakers, and obviously you aren't going to find any 1 or 2 ohm speakers easily.
The Best solution is to run a 4 channel amp and rewire all the speakers, with some component speakers up front.
If you are on a budget, rewire the system directly to a new aftermarket deck, with component speakers up front.
Sorry for not answering man, I was slammed at work today and by myself. Lots of people get decks for christmas and need them installed, so this is our busiest time.

Your stereo will only sound as good as the weakest component in your system. If you're rocking a Jensen headunit you're going to get Jensen sound out of your system.
That being said, component systems (seperate mid, tweeter) sound better than coaxil speakers. I have used several brands of speakers (kicker, infinity, boston, pioneer, blaupunkt) and I have found that most every brand has lower end speakers, and higher end speakers.
IE: Pioneer Elite Component system is going to sound better than Boston Acoustic Coaxil speakers.

and i have bostons in the struts and 2 6x9 lighting bolts in individual boxes stored in the spare wheel well. decent high and lows specially since i got nothing in the doors or dash. my .02 cents

name brand **** isn't the way to go. honestly i would get some 2nd hand speakers off craigslist they will more than enough unless ur gonna amp them it won't matter they will be clear

Boston is not the best. there are way better speakers out there. there are speakers that you have never heard of. check out focal. their entry level stuff is not that expensive and they sound way better then infinity or infinity kappa stuff. the infinity have a really harsh tweeter where as any of the focal's, especially if you are going to go with components, sound real true to life with really good mid bass response and really clean crisp, but not overbearing highs. the guy who said your system is only as good as your weakest link is absolutely right but you can do your system in stages. start with a good head unit with high voltage rca outputs. higher end pioneer and kenwood stuff is really good. any mid to high end alpine is good. get a decent set of component speakers and then get a good clean amp to to power your speakers. consider doing a sub down the road as well to fill in the low end bass. even the 1200 dollar focal's i have in my car can not put out the bass that subs are designed to do.

I'm running 4-6.5" Polk Audio coaxial speakers ($30.00/pair), and 2-3.5" Rockford Fosgate's ($30 +/-) off a Pioneer Elite Series Head unit (7v preouts). I'm powering them with an old school Soundstream lil wonder 5 channel amp. They keep up with JL18w3 subwoofer (yes 18"), powered by a JL 1000/1 slash series amplifier.
+1 for getting a good quality head unit + good quality amplifier (and wiring) + fairly cheap speakers = best sound for the money.

its all about how far u wanna take it. my 7 0 audio no deck no speakers. going for lightness. my Lincoln 150lb box in the trunk. not talked about much but soundstream makes some amazing stuff. ive had the same soundstream amp and xover for quite some time now. 100% pleased with them. would have some soundstream speakers but people keep giving my component sets so no need to buy. and a psi sub. but if ur not gonna run an amp. no need to spend mad dough on speakers. just 1 thing. DONT GET SONY. they have built in distortion.
