hi-

does anybody have any pictures of their speaker installation in the back shock towers. i have been told that 6.5 will fit fine, but that seems too big.

I think the 6.5s will fit you have to engineer a new mount for them though the factory metal plate is to small. I had 6.5s in my 87 TII, my buddy made the new mounts for me out of aluminum.

Again, you can get pre-made adapters from Crutchfield that will make installing 6.5" speakers in the shock towers a snap. I know - that's what's in my car.

Found my adapters (6.5") for the rear shock towers installed on a FC in the junkyard. 4 bucks a pop and they fit perfect!! I had made ones out of plywood but the stock speaker cover/grill would touch the speakers, now it fits and looks great!

I have 6.5s on the towers too, but my buddy and i just made the whole bigger on the original ones, and just sanded it to make it smooth, and just drill the holes, fits perfect

the fuckface who owned my car before me installed 2.5" tweets back there and got a 6.5 plate with a 2.5 hole. So yeah, the 6.5 should fit just fine

I used the stock plates to mount my 6.5's. Required a little drilling to make the wholes match up, but it worked great.
