Question how do i hook up my water temp, oil temp, and oil press gauges??

i got these gauges mounted in the vents above the heater controls.. i was wondering how i hook them up(like where to plug them in the engine and what i need to do it) and how to plumb all the lines through the dash.. right now it seems that the air box thing is in the way and i am lost.. also what should these gauges be sitting at?? also how do i hook the light up so all the gauges come on when i turn on my head lights?

THanks Dave

Racing Beat sells an adapter block that "taps" into the oil filter pedestal for oil temp and oil pressure.&nbsp The water temp needs to be drilled and tapped by the thermostat.

as above get the block from racing beat for $50. goes under the oil filter and has holes for the oil pressure and temp.

run the lines straight down, beside/ behind the deck. you might need to pull it out. then you can run the lines out the back of the console towards a hole in the firewall. there are a few.

water is harder. drilling the themostat housing is best but probbaly needs to be removed first (not fun) other wise you will get metal shavings in your coolant. the other way is to "T" the coolant line to the bac vavle. that should work.

the gauges should be reading 0, since they are not hooked up but once hooked up. water temp should be 185-200. oil temp 150-190, and oil pressure 30psi at idle. 60 at 3000rpm.

for the lights, just splice into the stereo power. they will be on all the time. to make them turn on with lights takes much more work...

what kind of gauges are they? are they Mech. or electric?

why would you want to go through the box?? you can go straight down to behind/ beside the deck. pull the deck out. I assume you already have the consoul part off?

although it'll be a bitch to run the mech lines around.... the electric gauges are SO much easier...

Just run the wires thru where the engine wiring harness wiring goes thru the firewall.

on the drivers side theres a good place to snake anything through the fire wall. if you have pwr steering it might be tough to get to, but you will see it kinda above the oil pressure sensor, just a bunch of **** going into the fire wall.
it ends up coming though under the dash above the cluch and brake

But if they're mechanical guages, it's not wiring that you have to run through the firewall, it's an oil line and water line..

Good luck, but if it were me, those guages would be back whereever they came from and electrical guages on their way.

Are the electrical ones about the same price? I'll go ask tomorrow if I can get those instead.

You remove the old oil filter block (2 10mm nuts). You remove the studs from the old block, install the longer ones, use the new o-rings in the kit, and reinstall. Good idea to install your senders first.

Is it ok to just hook up an oil pressure gauge but not an oil temp with the adapter? Do I have to plug anything or do I just leave it like that?
thanks!

If you dont block it there in no doubt that oil will not come out of the hole=)

This really pisses me off!..i just installed my water pump/housing like 2 days ago now i know that i have to tear it apart again for a water temp gauge. Is there another place where i can tap in the sender for the water temp gauge?
