No, don't listen to these guys that are saying use the same plug in leading and trailing. They are not paying attention that you have a non turbo and daily driver.
Don't use the BUR9EQ in the leading position unless you have a modified motor.
In a stock non turbo motor the BUR9EQ tend to be too cold for a daily driver... which leads to fouling and reduced gas mileage when cold and can lead to cold start issues (excessive cranking and more easily flooding)
Use the correct BUR7EQ or BUR7EQP in the leading (lower) positions and the BUR9EQ or BUR9EQP in the trailing (top) positions on stock(or near stock) motors.

Ahh good info all tho I'll look like a uber noob that I am I have a 86 GXL non turbo what other names does this car have? I don't get FD vs FC or s4 or s5 or N/A is there a thread that explains all those abbreviations?
Which would make yours an n/a (naturally aspirated, non turbo) s4(series 4, or Zenki) fc (factory designation FC3S for 2nd generation rx-7)

20K really? I've only had my car for about 13 and I've replaced mine twice. Albiet that was before I realized what a wire brush and some elbow grease can accomplish ;-)
I just replaced mine today. I had to order them because all the auto parts stores didn't have them in stock. They got them two days later though. Man I have never seen plugs so worn out before. There was almost nothing left.
