Independent headlights?

Is it possible to make the headlight motor independent from the actual lights. what i mean by that is have the lights stay on while the motor is down and shine through the ftp lenses?

Has there been a write up made. i'm curious to see if this has been done.

Wink

it's pretty simple there is a white and green wire in the main fuse box that is labeled retractor all you have to do is cut this wire and run some cables into the inside of the car and put a switch on it this way you have the option of keeping them up or down.

I've been working on a way to not have to install ANOTHER switch, by using the existing headlight up/down switch to power the motors at all times. Therefore the headlight switch would only power the lights, turning them on, but NOT raising them. Then you could raise them with the up/down switch for day/night driving.

The only problem is that every time I come close, I end up burning up the switch or circuit board. It's gotten to be quite expensive so I've quit trying for a while. Unless someone would like to donate to the cause! I'll accept any working switch you can send! Lol...

But stay posted. Shouldn't be too long.

I'm thinking about trying this. What you guys are saying is that If I removed diode D4 from the headlight switch, then that switch will only turn the bulbs on, but not activate the motors to raise the lights, therefore requiring the headlights cleaner switch to be activated for the lights to raise?

I have to do some maintenance and take care of a few small problems on my '88 and might try this if I have a spare hour or two next weekend.

I don't think it's that bad. i have an HID kit installed in my fc and i can see straight across the garage my car was parked in through the ftp lenses.

I guess it's just a matter of cleaning out the ftp lenses. I suggest grabbing blue magic's lens restorer. It does work wonders.

Then again I only have the h4 8000k hi bulbs. Which is why i want to try this.
I was thinking of using my ftp lenses as lows while making the headlights go up for hi beams. This is only because i don't have hi/lo beams.

What i'm also looking to do is to make my fog lights independent from my low beams. If anyone has anything on this...i'd love em too. I'd love to have my fog lights on with my hi beams.

Has anyone tried this with any success? I've tried pulling A diode but only succeeded in screwing everything up... Which one is D4?
