Hello, I had the spark plug wires taped and organized and a friend came by and removed the tape!!! Does anyone have the order of the wires or a pic of the correct placement of the wires????

I'm trying to do the ATF complexed unflooding method of a 91 Conv RX7... Plus the plugs are seized pretty tight!!! any clues on freeing these as well? I don't want to put the wires on wrong and blow something!!!!

The coils are marked - L1 L2 T1 T2

From looking at the engine on the driver side by the fender, the plugs go like this:

T1 T2

L1 L2

 

The leading coil (the one closest to the battery) fires the lower two spark plugs on each rotor. Its marked L1 and L2. Leading 1 is the leading plug (lower plug) on the front rotor. Rear rotor is number 2 so L2 goes to the lower one on the rear rotor.

The other coil fires the trailing plugs. Its marked T1 and T2. Again, the 1 is for front rotor and the 2 is for rear rotor. DO NOT get the trailing wires swapped. If you swap the leading wires, its ok, those plugs fire at the same time. DO NOT swap the trailing plug wires.

So on the coils it is visibly marked L1 L2 T1 T2? I just don't want to screw something up.

So I just have to follow you all instructions in reinstalling the wires... that simple right? Also any ideas on freeing seized plugs?

Yes the coils have visible marks for plugs 1 and 2.

Just remember trailing = top (both Ts..makes sense )
And the front rotor is 1 and the rear is 2

 

T1 and T2 coils are positions relative to the rotor placement.
So, front trailing coil is T1 and rear trailing coil is T2.
This is for lazy people who don't want to look down at the tops of the coil for the markings.

Even if you swap the L1 and L2 spark plug wires, they both fire at the same time.

A good quality deep well socket & a short piece of 3/4" SCH80 pvc pipe on the wrench handle.

 

Cross you fingers and pray to god it doesn't snap inside the rotor housing.

I thought when the engine was due for a rebuild, the spark plugs would automatically break off in the rotor housings, kinda like a "mileage switch" thing...So, that's not supposed to happen?

 

Is this a real concern on the RX7?!

I had a seized plug on my '87TII. I used Liquid Wrench and *very* tiny tugs on the socket wrench. I turned it 1/8 turn CCW - which took way too much force - and then turned it back 1/4 turn, which was a bit easier.
Once you have it started, go 1/8 turn CCW, then back until that range Is smooth and easy. Now add more Spray, push another 1/8 turn and then back & forth till it's smooth. Then more spray, another 1/8, back & forth, etc, etc, etc. Once you have it out a full turn, add spray and screw it all the way in, then back out as far as you've loosened.
It took me (not kidding) two hours to get it out, but it came out without damage to the housing (lots of damage to my wrist by repeated banging it on stuff down there by the plugs, though).
