Sound question

Hi everyone, my 87 is N/A. I have the original dual exhaust. Also, my catalitic converter is gutted. I have right now a very quiet sound. However, I can get a Racing Beat "TURBO" Dual Exhaust: note, the Y pipe was modified to fit an N/A like mine. Also, this RB "TURBO" Dual Exhaust is "old school" the mufflers are black with chrome tail pipes. Do any of you think I will get a nice sound, or would it be a sound that eventually gets on you're nerve on the long run. Ex..have to put up the radio to hear it...lol..

Would I loose HP's as well...

Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks

to my knowledge, RB mufflers are still a quiet system, but flow better than stock. you may have to turn the radio up a touch, but no where near like my straight pipes per say lol.

I think you will find that the RB turbo exhaust will be louder than a RB N/A exhaust. Turbochargers quiet the exhaust quite a bit by themselves.

How that compares to a stock N/A exhaust? Louder. Can't tell you how much, but louder. It should still sound great.

Good Luck!

The engine will not lose any power, but the exhaust noise may increase. I am not sure how much difference there is between the internals of the Racing Beat NA and TII mufflers, but at least you know they are not some cheapie Ebay mufflers that will make your car sound like the loudest Honda on the planet. As stated above, Racing Beat mufflers are pretty quiet. I would try it to see how it sounds.

Oh, I thought you could get the used system at no cost. How much is it? Personally, I would buy a shiny new Racing Beat exhaust system designed for my application rather than pay for some cruddy old system that isn't quite right for my car.

It's my RB system,Evil.Good shape.
2 RB mufflers(black cans) and the Y pipe was modified to accept the 2.5 inch flange.

So why don't you just tell him how it sounds and offer a money-back guarantee if it is too loud?

I thought Racing Beat non turbo and turbo catbacks used the same y-pipe flange to mate to the stock cats, unless we're talking about the REVII 3 inch system.
