sometimes won't fire

Anybody experienced this? My '86 starts fine when cold(it was 8 degrees yesterday) but on occasion, after driving for awhile come back to car 30 minutes or 4 hours later it just cranks like a flooded condition. The car will bump start within 10-20 ft in 2nd gear. It'll drive fine and start fine until it does this again. Also, if wait for 24 hours, normally will start fine. Has had new plugs and wires, compression tests good, too. Doesn't do this all the time, just on a maddening occasion, and will not clear by performing flooded engine procedure. I've put in new battery(old one was questionable), battery cables and starter. Any ideas? Thanks

Maybe leaking injector. Does the oil smell like gas?

Oil doesn't smell like gas, and is it more likely that the injectors will leak when engine has been previously warmed up?
