something wrong with speedo cable.

my old speedo cable was messed up because of the loud sounds from the speedo. so i got this speedo cable from a working car, after i put it in, i test drove, the speedo doesnt even move, then when i start to go a lil faster, then i hear little high pitch noises, very quiet tho. did i not put it in all the way to the speedo gauge? i pushed it in as hard as i could, woulldnt go anymore in......

same tranny on the car you got the "new" cable from?
if you're hearing it spin, you might have not installed it correctly in the cluster...

yeah wayne is right,Make sure you here a click when pushing it in.If the noise is still there but the speedo is working then its the speedo that could be bad.

does the speedo cable have the white transparent clip?
If so just rotate it until it clicks in.If you don't have the clip then you'll have to get one.but if the clip is in the tug on the speedo cable gently to see if its really on there and if it is then the speedo is bad.Go to e-bay so you can get a used one.

You run the cable to behind the dash... Feed the cable into the hole. If its inserted correctly, the clip will "click". Sounds like you didnt quite get it..

Honestly, I never had that much problem with it... Try rotating the end of the cable and trying again...
