Wow, that's a lot of problems! First, does the car start and rev, and then stall when you let off the pedal? Does it stay running only above a certain rpm? A loose shifter is usually caused by bad bushings, check out http://www.mazdatrix.com under the short shifer/etc section they have a nice description of them and how to replace them. As far as the clutch goes, it sounds like you've either got bad hydraulics, or a line that's bad and leaked all the fluid out, check the line for holes/etc, if you can't find any then it's time to check elsewhere (such as the slave cylinder, usually dumps fluid into the boot) or the master cylinder (usually leaks through the firewall and gets all over the carpet)

it will rev but only continue running if you give it gas i have taken my foot off the gas and got it to keep going if the engine rpms dont get too low (like 3 or 2 thousand)

Well, then I'd just bleed the slave cylinder (basically just like brakes, stick a hose over the bleeder valve, stick it in brake fluid, then get inside the car and move the pedal up and down over and over (so it pumps air out and sucks fluid back in), then get out of the car, tighten it up, remove hose and clean up and see how that works for you. Now, as far as the RPM's not staying below 3,000, how does the car sound when it is running? Does it sound like a crazy weedwhacker? Does the engine run smoothly like that? It sounds like you need to do a compression check on it (you can use either a piston compression checker to get a rough estimate per front/rear rotor) Or, if you don't have one, just remove the leading spark plug and get someone to turn it over as you listen (BE SURE TO REMOVE THE EGI FUSE BEFORE DOING THIS!), you should hear 3 even loud whooshes, then put the spark plug back and do the next rotor, see if theres any difference.
