Smoke and Stalls

Looking at a TII. Car starts and idles find. Can rev the RPMs up still fine. Try to drive the car, and it stalls and smokes. Under little to moderate acceleration can get the tach up to about 2500 and then stalls. RPMs drop to 1500 and the engine "restarts" itself. (Like a rolling start) Back to 2500 and then 1500 it restarts and so on. PLEASE any help and or ideas.

Man, that has to be the oddest thing I have ever heard. I am intrigued now. Any updates?

Couldn't tell too much, was getting dark outside. But the smoke looked white.

you should check the coolant level before and after it runs to check how much it is eating becuz why smoke is most likely water getting in the engine

Well... I got the TII. Started looking at the engine closer. Took the intercooler off. Little bit of fluid residue inside, but no puddles. The oil cap and inside the oil filler tube also have a white fluid residue. After the motor warms up and I take off the oil cap, white smoke pours out.

My thought is collant is mixing with the oil in the turbo. Anybody have any other ideas?

My car also dies... but mine just dies out of no where. It'll be warming up and then it dies... or i'm driving and it'll die... weird... pretty similar to your issue.

hmmm i sometimes when the rpms change like that and it dies and such it could be the afm but in ur case i think its more than that since you have white residue in the oil filler cap and neck

I have called Atkins and Mazdatrix. Both say that the white residue is normal. They also say that it could be turbo, side seal, water seal, vacume leak, TID, maybe fuel related or electrical.
The car has been sitting for an unknow amount of time. I plan on reading thought the service manual and changing the oil tomorrow.

Holy ****! Changed the oil, took off the intercooler and re-connected. Put new plugs in. NOW I HAVE A GOOD RUNNING ENGINE. No stalls. Still smokes but I think that is the bearings/seals in the turbo. Not a big deal, was planning on a new turbo anyway.
