Slow filling gas

after sitting for 6 months with the previous owner, my car developed a problem by not being able to equalize pressure in the gas tank.

it is very slow to fill and i must pump the "pump" very slowly stopping every few seconds to insert another 10cents of gas or so...any ideas as to where to start as to alleviate this problem? thanks.

(btw...88 turbo II)

Weird. Maybe a clog somewhere in the filler pipe?
Edit: just checked out the FSM. If you look at it on page 4B-78, there is a smaller diameter pipe above the main pipe - I bet thats for equilizing the pressure. My guess is that its clogged.

the inlet where you put gas in the tank has a vent..the tank also has a line that goes to a check valve and then to the charcoal cannister...
