Engine swap troubles with fuel

hi, my beloved 88 fc had a heart transplant (engine swap). i just finished it, it started up no problem, second crank.i drove it around the block, then down to my friends shop to get it cleaned up, compression checked, etc. etc. when i drove it it was very choppy, it sort of felt like it was choking. its a 13b na, i checked it and it was running very rich. i found my injector was stuck open so i relplaced that. but there was still fuel getting inside wetting up the spark plugs. replaced the fuel pressure regulator, but no dice. any ideas anyone?

this may sound too easy, but did u make sure you got the fuel lines on right???having the return and feed line backwards might cause some odd problems wiht fuel pressure

Just in case someone else forgot to label their fuel lines before disconnecting them, what did you decide on?

If the fuel lines are swapped the engine won't run at all, so it's not that.

I understand, but I just did an engine swap this weekend and my engine won't run at all - I switched the fuel lines after reading your post and it still won't start, so now I need to know which way they go on so that I can continue troubleshooting other things without wondering if it's the fuel lines. I've been through the manuals and I can't find anything showing which goes where.

we had my old engine to follow the fuel lines cause the throttle body and all was off so we could see the vacuum piping. the line that comes from the fuel filter into the pipe that follows to the fuel pulsation dampner and primary injector is the supply line. the other that goes into the line from the fire wall is return. thats what it took for my car to turn.

and we did label the lines as well, but the new engine was from japan so the piping didnt come out of the grid the same way, the tips were at a different angle and the pipes twisted in a different direction, so we had to trace them to see what they went to.

i dont think its the lines, any body have this problem before with the sparkplug holes?
or have another idea

Are all your plugs firing? You might buy/borrow a timing light just to make sure both sides of each coil are firing.

What year engine did you swap in, and which harness did you use, (old engine or new)?

There is a difference in the injector impedence between the 86-87 engines and the 88 engines. The car will run with the wrong injectors, but it will run like crap.

There is a physical difference on the injectors and injector clips themselves: The earlier years had a tab in the middle of the injector/injector clip, while the 88s had that tab offsetted to one side. This is supposed to prevent clipping a clip to a wrong impedence injector, but you can still manage to clip them on. I have.
