single piston to four piston conversion?

and no i'm not talking about putting a civic motor into a weedwacker. how tough is it to put 4 piston calipers onto a car that normally has 1 piston calipers? how tough is it to find these in a junkyard? the reason i ask is cause i found a gtu and it aon't got nothing.

Ok guys,

It is very easy, just a matter of un-bolting the single piston calipers, and bolting on the double piston calipers; once you have everything THAT IS!!

All you need:

-Double Piston calipers
-Hard lines <----There is a hard brake line (like the ones coming from the brake master cylinder) Between the rubber brake line and the calipers. When purchasing used calipers, make sure THEY HAVE THE HARD LINE ATTACHED to the it (the caliper) otherwise you will need buy them from mazda or someone else. They shoould'nt be VERY expensive!

That's all you need!

Who told you that That is not true, it is a bolt in swap Unless you are talking about the 4 studs to 5 studs swap

The front rotors are the same, the rear rotors are different.

And you DONT need the hard line, accually.. the hard line fucked me up, i took it off and used the stock soft line, works like a champ. ALTHOUGH i am talking about a 4lug-->5lug swap on an S4. Either way, its pie.

I thought on a car that had 4 piston front calipers that it had bigger brakes all the way around not just on the back.

I just got a 5 lug swap, but it doesn't have 4 piston front calipers. So I just have to get the 4 piston calipers for the front and bolt them on? And is there any good aftermarket 4 pistons calipers out there, such as wilwood that would just bolt on?

I stand corrected...I musta been thinking about the rear discs or something. Just checked the FSM and they are all listed as having the same diameter/thickness front rotors, at least for an S5 (10.87in x 0.87in). The FSM dimensions for S4 front discs that I found can't be right...seems way too small. It's listed at 8.03inx0.87in for 14inch rims/4lug and 9.06inx0.87in for the 5lug. Is that right?? thats like a helluva lot smaller than the series 5 rotors and I'm pretty sure I've seen s4 rotors and can't imagine them being that small.

I got the complete bigger brake set from a forum member selling his..all 4 calipers + rotors (rotors hardly worn at all..took a caliper to them ) and rebuild kits from mazdatrix for them...for a very nice price. I'm sure you could find 4piston front calipers for a helluva lot less than new calipers and rebuild them as well.
