Question Which single Exhaust to get?

Well it is time for me to get a new cat back since my Y pipes is cracked and i've been planning on upgrading for awhile. I have decided i want to go for a single exit design. So far i have narrowed it down to these choices.

A'PEXi N1
CorkSport "Power Series"
OBX type H

Looking for advice and recomendations. Also if any of you know any other single exit catbacks please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
AN

Stick with the top two out of those three, I don't like OBX products. Price-wise, the CS is a steal and a good unit. Many people are happy with their N1 as well, and I believe sound is very similar between the two. I am going with the CS for my S5 simply because I can go pick it up with no shipping costs, and it is inexpensive to begin with.

Just out of curiousity why dont you like OBX? How about performance wise between the CS and A'PEXi? which one will not knock off my low end to much?

Thanks,

I was looking at the TeamFC3s one and it does look tight. how does it hold up compared to the other ones and is it ment for an N/A? I saw the vids and it was being tested on a T2.

if you have access to welding, go custom. if you do a good custom exhaust, it will flow better than any company's complete system.

Not sure how you think a custom is going to flow better....

My Mandrel Bent Stainless steel Turbo Back 80mm (3") couldn't be made by any of the local muffler shops for any cheaper, nor do I see hoe 3" will flow less than someone elses 3" exhaust....

I call BS on the custom one flowing better... I don't think Midas knows as much about exhaust flow as a company like Apex'i who supplies for touring cars and has their own highly tuned cars.

that being said, I'm betting the N1 has by far the best tone here, as well as not being as loud as the CS most likely.

I had a N1 on my 240SX and I couldn't have been happier with it.

Whether a custom will flow better is really dependent on what kind of exhaust you're running. A lot of the Apexi/HKS/etc exhausts are designed to be run with the stock cat in place. The Apexi N1 for example is designed to be used in the N1 class, which requires the stock cat. It thus is bottle necked at the catylitic converter and becomes a restriction. If you're running a 3" open exhaust, either racing beat or custom is the way to go, to ensure you're really getting 3" all the way through.

I would choose N1 because I had it on my old GXL with Bonez Race pipe and i loved it. A little loud but not as bad as my custom exhaust i have on my car rite now though.

I think that all you NA guys who pay 800 plus dollars for a cat back system need to evaluate what you want your car to do. I will give you no argument that a catback exhaust is a small performance upgrade for a NA but to spend that type of money is stupid. You can get more of a performance upgrade by replacing your cat and precats. take the money you plan to spend on some exhaust pipe and buy a t2 motor.

i have the corksport being fed by a straight pipe in place of the cats and i love it. It's not really that loud on my na, but if noise bothers you just get the silencer with it. Are you runnin stock manifold and cats?

Theres also the 5Zigen catback. Says it fits turbo models only but every other exhaust is universal so I bet this one was only fitted on a TII is all. $300 is pretty good.

Apex N1 gets my vote. Be warned though it is loud. Fit and finish are awsome.

If the N1 is so loud, I'd be amazed at other CBs without the inline silencer like the N1 has. They must be hella loud.

my custom 3" is better than any of the premade cat-back's. It is incredibly straight and as a result is insanely loud.

that said. you've got n/a so i'd say go corksport. If i do another fc i'll probably do CS unless i have a welder at my house.
