simple blowoff valve question
simple blowoff valve question
hey guys, real simple question. My turbo ii is running the stock air pressure release valve on my front mount intercooler setup hooked up to a hose and im looking to temporarily replace it with something cheap off ebay for now but how do i know which will hookup to the hose opposed to bov's with flanges?
I'm currently running a similar set up to the one you're looking for. I've an atmospheric BOV and I have the flange connecting the turbo outlet connected to the inlet duct like on stock. However, I have the release valve on the duct removed and closed.
Hope this helps.

You can also get a one way water valve from a hardware store and put that on the end of the stock BOV so that it vents to the atmosphere, but doesn't leak at idle. That is what I have and it sounds great. It sounds way better than most BOV's I have heard.
buy a used bov that's already mounted on a short length of pipe, then find a spot in your fmic tubing where you can fit it, buy some silicon/rubber adapters and clamp that biatch on.
Or why don't you just get a bov flange welded onto your current fmic pipe and just bolt it in place? sounds like the best idea to me and would still probably be pretty cheap.

I don't have a pic, but it is a brass check valve piece that you can get at any hardware store. Air/water goes through it one way only. I can take a pic of it tomorrow, but this is what it looks like.
the stock air bypass valve has a vacuum operated piston in it instead of a diaphragm like most aftermarket valves. It's actually a less complicated version of a Synapse. It will not easily leak, but it does require a check valve if you open it to atmosphere.
You get a length of heater hose and a press on fitting that has threads on one side to attach to the check valve. You put the heater hose onto the end of the stock bypass valve. The check valve has to be oriented so that it lets air out.
