should i have enough backpressure????

ok, heres my dilemma.......i just bought a mindtrain header from a guy who's goin turbo on his n/a for 120$ (thanks scott) i currently am running a custom single cat/pipe combo.....obviously it wont fit with the header so here was my plan, have the cat refitted to the header, and use it when i need to go to inspection. then have a 2.5" straight pipe made for all the other time, my question is will i have enough backpressure to keep the 5th/6th port actuators working or will i need to wire them open, in which case i might as well take the bitches out..... im waiting to put the header on till my manifolds and tb get back from geting ported and polished at my uncles machine shop so i have some time to work all this out......if anyone has any info please let me know so i only have to take it all apart once.....

thanks,
justin

p.s. my car is no longer the infamous "skittle" its all bronze now....pics up soon......

You probably won't have enough back pressure to open them actually. If its a high flow cat you might as well keep that on all the time, I bet it will sound better and probably give you enough back pressure to open the aux. ports.

Your car will sound better with the high-flow in, and at the cost of only about 5-8 hp. Plus, it will most likely provide enough pressure to activate the 6PI system. Keep it in. If you don't, get some pineapple 6PI sleeves, and install them without the actuation system. You won't lose much low-end that way.

As an aside, the best rotary I've ever heard is NotNAuto's 90 vert - she's got an RB header, Random Tech 3" high-flow, and dynomax catback. It sounds AWESOME. At idle it sounds like a super-smooth Ford 302, and at 8k it's just screaming. Yummmmmm......

She says it's loud, but it's not, really. And it has NONE of the Honduh "blat" sound. It's all rotary-buzzin', F1 screamin', 787B roarin', chest-rumblin' deep bass thrummin' yummy goodness.

Do you have an S4 or S5? Backpressure only opens the ports on one of them the air pump on the other.
