Question Should I be boosting more?

I have an 88 TII that I just got running. The car has the following mods: Bonez DP, FCD, and Intake. It also has stock exhaust and stock main cat still on. My Greddy gauge reads .4 bar at WOT in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. Shouldnt I be seeing higher boost readings with my mods?

I recently replaced all the vacuum hoses and gave the car a tune-up. Car seems to be running fine but I feel that it should be boosting more. Any ideas on how to fix this?? Thanks

Errrmmmmm, hello, stock cat and stock exhaust ? You should be happy its boosting .4bar

Mine (which stock exhaust+cats) could not boost more than .3....After catback, mufflers, intake, car is/was hitting .7 (and the cats are still there, although a bit more "free flowing" )

Everyones right, your not going to see higher boost levels till you drop the old stock stuff.

Ah thanks for the quick replies. I posted a thread a while back and people said that I should see 6-7 pounds above stock with those same mods. My wastegate is ported too. I forgot to mention it above

I'm thinking about doing the TID mod. How much do you guys think this will increase my boost levels? I don't want more boost than the stock fuel system can handle.

Thats the first thing that came to my mind, till I read the part about the exhaust, lol.

Im going to say 1-2psi, considering you exhaust, 2-3 if the exhaust was opened substantially more.

You could also use a boost controller to raise your boost ya know.

Thanks! I have more questions but I'll go search and hope to find the answer

One more question ...
Whats a good quiet catback system that flows better than stock? I love the way the car is nice and quiet right now (Much better than my old n/a). Ok, no more questions from me tonight!

Dont know exact numbers, but my TII was a hell lot faster after I did the TID mod.

Granted, the stock TID was badly cracked, and it was all oily and greasy inside, but just the fact that you are ditching a two-90degree angled tube for an almost straight one is bound to make a big difference.

Dont know if it would be 1psi, 2psi or whatever, but after the TID I could peg the stock boost gauge right at the top, and the aftermarket mechanical gauge showed 0,7bar

Racing Beat definitely meets your requirements!

Also to compare, I see like 0.6 bar with intake, 3" DP/MP and stock catback.

As Chris said, Racing Beat exhaust. I have their exhaust on my turbo, and it sounds pretty good, not ricey at all, and not obnoxious, but you know its there, and its not there when you dont want it to be. Understand what I mean?

The mod consists of removing the old beat Turbo Inlet Duct (TID) and making your own from Home Depot type parts. Usually installing a cone intake at the same time.
