shooting flames

hey guys i got a question.

I got a 86 gxl,
streetported, s5 intake -tb modded ported, raactive intake, rb headers. and my cats are still on.

I was wondering if there is anyways to shoot flames with out removing the cats?
i need to pass aircare so i dnt like the concept of removing and install thing the cats...

any ways?
or do i have to remove the cats to shoot flames?

Ummmm you'd better get your Nomex(tm) suit on............

but in answer to your question......No..... not gonna happen with the cat on.... at least I've neve seen it... Ok I have.... But the car had an injector stuck open and the idiot tried revving it to redline to get it to unstick (while i was running for the hills)

pluss.... with the price of gas.... those flames are gonna cost you about a buck each pretty soon!!!!!!

I say if you want to do this, go buy a RB presilencer and cat-back of your choice. Then head over to Catco and get a cat. When it becomes emission time, put in the cat. Test, and take it out. Don't leave it in because Catco is ****, its just cheap to substitute.

Talking

I don't have a cat anymore but I still have a stock exhaust system. I might be able to shoot flames but no one has come up to me to tell me my car was "on fire."

Plus I don't think I'm running that rich in my N/A.

My car was shooting flames with a cat on it. I popped a 3.5 footer and blew out the packing in my cat. I was just running that rich...

I didn't have an airpump on it and the ACV was disconencted...

Dood... N/A's with no cats are NOTORIOUS for running rich on the top end!!!!

Probable the stock cans thats limiting you..

I get a nice flame every now and then even with the fuel cut on the haltech... If I WANT to shoot flames.. All I gotta do is get the exhaust nice and hot with a few boost blasts and then turn the decel cut off in the haltech and also turn the closed loop mode off.... Geezus.. its like I got a dragon hanging out my ***..

Its kinda neat below 4 grand as well, cause the flames don't really "shoot" at that RPM.. they kinda "drool" out like liquid fire onto the ground!!!!!

With the fuel cut on.. I get a "POP" every once in a while if I dump it over 7 grand... but, from what my buddy tells me, its just a small flame, nothing impressive.

BUT... all in all.. flames are unused fuel, and, therefore, a sign that you could tune your car a bit better..........
